This is perhaps the only Buzzfeed article I enjoyed readng, so thanks for sharing.

I don't see how sending an email could hurt - would be better if this guy were sporting an NW3 himself. What this guy is doing is pretty reckless though. Despite its coverage, Crispr is still a fairly nascent technology, and I would never do what he's doing. But I like the idea of people who are willing to do so are able to experiment with their own bodies. It takes way too long for a product to go from research into humans.

This story is amazing - I had no idea we could do it ourselves. I'm sure with some time, things will become more available.

As far out as this sounds I think DIY biohacking has some real potential and might have even more promise than these hair loss companies and their products.

Only five more years!... and something worthwhile may come out of it. But, as the article stated, a more sophisticated level of technology and equipment would be necessary to produce results for certain therapies. Such things, Tsuji would likely have in their facility right now. Fascinating prospects though. If I had time, I would dust off my biochem degree and fire up some CRISPR in my garage also.

Check this article:
https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniemlee/this-biohacker-wants-to-edit-his-own-dna

It was just published and i am sure it will get a lot of discussion online. The article is not about hairloss, but about the owner of The Odin, who makes and sells DNA editing kits that leverage CRISPR technology.

I think what he is doing is fairly reckless, however, i think we should all take the time to email him directly to see if he would be interested in developing a CRISPR kit that modifies AR genes implicated in hairloss. I was able to locate his email address - [email protected]

Worst case he ignores you, best case he creates one that works, second best case he creates one that doesn't work but he markets it as such and gets a bunch of desperately needed attention for this disease.

What do you say?
Imagine that, us bald losers online treat hairloss faster than Dr Tsuji himself, editing the balding gene would be the biggest platform for this guy to become rich and rich fast, does he know what he's doing though?

we ll be able to grow wings and tails on ourselves at home and follica will still be "testing special compounds"
I think if we've learned something from all these companies scamming and delaying all their products it's that we need to do something ourselves and this may be it, the problem is that there's so many genes that affect make up the balding human, editing out all of these genes is kind of like taking finasteride right? You take this gene out and it affects your hair and something else too.

The problem with trying to cure something like male pattern baldness with Gene editing, is that male pattern baldness is not a result of one Gene - it's a result of a combination of genes. I'm no scientist, but I've read lots of times that diseases are rarely dependent on one Gene.

So challenge will be to find the right combination and then make the kit. Reminds me a lot like web development - it takes a lot of effort to build the foundation, but then we can build on top and create "templates" inexpensive.

What if you only treat the big ones instead of every single gene connected to balding, I think in that case the disease would start much later in someone's life rather than earlier, I think if people are serious about doing this, they need to hurry up and do it before the FDA starts to regulate it because then you're fucked for another 20 or so years.

Dude can you imagine a gene editing kit that you can buy for $200 that you inject and you are permanently cured of this illness? That's some next level sh*t.

That would be f*****g amazing. All you need is to sequence AR genes from someone with thick NW1, clip them with CRISPR, and then insert them into the virus for delivery. All of this has been done with other organisms, we would just need to do it with with a human gene which it sounds like this guy is doing on himself already.

That's the f*****g cure, none of this lifetime pill popping with adverse side effects.
Have you emailed him? I already did, if we want him to make something like this we need to show lots of interest

Yes I emailed him twice from two different accounts. We need to show a huge amount of interest for him to see the potential. He will care about the marketing and PR opportunities as much as the end result. I think he will want to help because this would make him a rockstar.
f*** then I'll up you one and I'll mail him on 3 accounts.

INB4 turning ourselves into pseudo-saiyans with long, healthy and durable hairs; taller and bigger bodies; unlimited and easy muscle building, longer life span, and faster mental speed

Just need to pin our arms with the correct gene.

I remember emailing Bioviva (Elizabeth Parish) once! I even a document to show them how much profit they could make LOL
Do the same thing and email this guy about how much he could make and also try and email him about how much people are suffering from this disease and that he could potentially gain a sh*t ton of attention all over the world for this. A hairloss cure would only be the start.

What are you guys even talking about? You can't just put gene therapy in a box and sell it. How is everyone here forgetting about government regulations, especially on something as cutting edge as CRISPR? Clinical trials, anybody...?

It turns out, you can. You must simply stated that the kit is used for educational purposes only and not meant to treat or cure diseases. Doing trials on humans is illegal, doing them on yourself is an FDA loophole.

For those of you who have been emailing the guy - make sure you're using tracking code to know if he is opening them. Use polymail, nylas mail or a Gmail plugin. Or create a link, use Google's URL shortner and see if he clicks it.

It's kind of like all those companies selling Ru for educational purposes, in reality everyone knows they're selling it so people can rub it into their head and gain some hair. Potentiallly this could at least save us a bunch of years of balding at the very minimum if this guy decides to help us out, just depends on how many emails he gets, someone should email him a link to this post and tell him to at least reply to us so we don't get our hopes up or anything.
