How long did it take you to feel normal again after discontinuation? I started feeling better after about a two weeks off of it and felt good for another week or so. The past few days, however, my libido and erection quality has gotten worse. I understand the timeline of post finasteride syndrome sort of coincides with what's happening here with me, but before I jump the gun and start to get overly concerned and panic, I'm wondering if anyone else has had peaks and valleys in their recovery from finasteride. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I started fun 1mg in june 2013 and quit it in april 2014 .
Watery semen turned thick again after a while but about 5-6 months after quitting i have been having difficulty emptying my bladder.
for a month or so i have had this burning sensation when urinating and afterwards . I have also been waking up in the middle of the night to urinate which is giving me broken sleep all that time.
had various urine ,blood tests and a full renal tract ultrasound in this 1 month period where everything came up normal including prostate size compared to age.

by the end of that month waking up in the middle of the night has stopped , so did the burning sensation .
now i have the odd burning sensation during and after sex and urination . It does not happen often but its there to remind me.
Libido seems very normal however the penis appears to be very sensitive

Sounds like an std @vinnytr. Gonorrhea perhaps. Look into it

I took Finasteride for about four years, on and off. Finally decided to just quit cold turkey. i actually don't understand why people are still having the debate whether or not Finasteride causes sexual sides. It most certainly did for me, reduced ejaculation volume, pain in my testicles, low libido leading to softer erections. You really can't make up testicle pain. The sides were completely gone by week three d! With that being said, I have now been off the drug close to eight years with minimal loss. Im glad I took it for that period of time, it got me through my twenties despite the sides.

seems like those low T, and thyroid function tend to always get sides. High oestrogen output, typically skinny-fat, and prone to estrogen related sides such as gyno, high BF etc etc.

Maybe if weren't swimming in estrogen you wouldn't be getting sides:uglylol:

I am 22 year old and i have taken finasteride since the age of 19..

i quit taking it around 40 days ago..Cause i just went for a semen test and both my count and motility was severely affected....

But i might start it again...Will reduce the dose to 3 mg a week(A tablet every alternate day)...

Hope no fap, thrice a week of finasteride, once a day of minoxidil and thrice a week of nizoral keeps my hair of respectable amount of hair for the next 3-4 years. After that i might just go bald or get a transplant.

After a week of finasteride,i was having a considerable amount of morning glory..but then maybe it was no fap...or maybe it was indeed stopping finasteride..i had no other effect of finasteride on my body other than it being a male birth control pill.

However i am a little skeptical of starting it again...should i?shouldnt i?..Maybe i will start a thread on that..

Finasteride/propecia has a large impact on the HPTA and it's functions due to it's inhibition of the 5ar2 enzyme (metabolite for dht) by eliminating the conversion from test to dht, your body has much more "free testosterone" thus signals your body to create more estrogen to combat it. When you discontinue this drug, it leaves your HPTA in an array of confusion. The rush of DHT from dropping the propecia is known to overload the system and send it into a "crash". Leaving your body with high estrogen, low T and an array of jacked up levels. This is very similar to what happens to a steroid user (me) when he ends his cycle. However much like with the steroid cycle though not impossible, It's a very long and unlikely process to recover from naturally much less with store bought supplements. Pharma drugs need pharma drugs to fix pharma impacts. Most people recover without issue, as you should as well. HOWEVER if you find your situation worsening as time goes on, you may need to run a PCT regime to kick start your hpta back to normal.

Thanks for explaining that. Helps me understand what's gong in in my body. Stopped for about a week now and feeling all the sides. I have never experienced any sides while on the drug so am very tempted to go back on.

Will going back on finastride solve my sides? Is that advisable?
