Not sure if this has been previously discussed but I have a couple theories on what the scalp itch could be. I don’t know for sure but just based on experience. Depending on certain factors like dandruff, skin rash, excema etc... were all ruled out.
-It could be hairs that are entering into a telogen phase of their cycle.
-It could be androgens acting on the follicles either causing thinning, miniaturization or what not.
-A combination of both these things.
The scalp itch doesn’t mean that you’re going to go bald. I think every human being experiences this at varying degrees. Maybe not even noticeable to some.
Any other thoughts?

I think anyone that has male pattern baldness and is experiencing the scalp itch (inflammation) consistently is fucked. Unless it's a mild allergy to something. Every single person I've encountered on here, myself as well, has only noticed consistent itching and burning in places that have later thinned out. Inflammation is a sign of injury.

Can you describe your itch to me? My scalp itches a bit sometimes but it’s not always itching. How bad does it get when you itch

I've had scap itchiness, tingling and burning feeling on and off for years and I have knock knock on wood no thinning or hairloss. Maybe anxiety?

I have tried posting about this topic many times in the past, but I usually only get a few replies. From what I see on this board, seborrheic dermatitis and hair loss are VERY common. I believe that once I get my own SD (and scalp acne) under control, my hair loss will stop.

I hope it does for you, but don't be too sure. The beginning of my hair loss at age 16 coincided with the development of seb derm (a moderately severe case, where I would actually get small mounds of buildup/crust on the scalp), but even after I got it under control the hair loss continued. Maybe even the degree to which I still have it is enough to induce further inflammation and hair loss. Currently, and for many years now, my head will start itching somewhere between 3-5 days after shampooing with Nizoral.
