Sure, quiting animal products cold turkey and going 100% can be a hassle but slowly removing your animal product consumption should not be an issue. I pay less for my groceries now that I am 90% plant based by the way.

I would also not take Nick Shell too seriouss. I am sure he is a nice guy but for someone that is so obsessed with hair loss he really does not have a lot of knowledge about it, since he is quite the broscientist. He also has this tendency to take his own anecdotes as evidence a lot.

I can buy 1 kg ground beef for $5 or 5 tomatoes for $5... which one is cheaper? xd

I can buy 5 kg of lentils for the same price as 4 cans of tuna... which one is cheaper? xd

The point I'm trying to make is I cant afford being a vegan. It is expensive, and since I lift, eating protonz with a vegan diet would be hell.
Meat, tuna, chicken etc can be bought for less than $10. A can of tuna can be purchased for $2.

Salads, apples, etc cost a lot more.

I lift too, and eating protonz with a 90% vegan diet is easy.

Black beans, lentils, brown rice and tofu etc can bought for less than $10 too.

So far I can only conclude that your quote "I cannot afford being vegan" is a translation of "I am not aware of the fact yet that eating more plant-based can be done for the same price".

Very low bio-availability. Unless you take gigantic amounts of Soy this is very unlikely to have any effect on you. Milk can cause much more problems in that regard but for some reason you never hear anyone about that.

I actually respect that you are at least honest about being lazy as the main argument btw.

Hair loss is a known complication of crohns and ulcerative colitis. His loss was secondary to his disease, which is some cases is actually very treatable with dietary changes (usually more extreme like shifting to 100% elemental formula). A normal person with male pattern baldness will not get his results.

Nick shell is like a nw2 with mild crown thinning, don’t know why he is so obsessed with balding. I would not put any stock in him thinking his diet is why he kept his hair

I do find the question of the steroids pumped into our meats accelerating male pattern baldness a fascinating one. Possibly why the incidence of balding in places like japan is going up?

I'm fairly convinced diet plays a role in male pattern baldness, no doubt. male pattern baldness seems to have gone up across the world globally, in relation to increased industrialization and economic development in the world. On top of that, it seems to be happening at a younger age too. Most of these developing countries are shifting to the Western diet, which is full of unhealthy and disgusting processed sh*t. But it's all fairly cheap, really.

The Western diet is generally quite acidic, as it consists of a lot of grains (which are all acidic), meat (also acidic), dairy (acidic too, usually), sodas (they literally have mild acids added to them), and not a lot of vegetables or fruits, which are generally a lot more basic. The optimal pH of 5 alpha reductase (although there are really 3 types discovered so far) is about 5.5. That is decently acidic. For context, 0-7 is considered acidic, and 7-14 is considered basic. If you were to eat a pure vegan diet, your blood pH should increase with the increased uptake of vegetables (assuming you don't just fill in the calorie gap with a bunch of grains, which might actually happen if you go full vegan), which will make the enzyme less efficient at converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and thus the reduced DHT should lower male pattern baldness. Of course, that's assuming that you're eating hardly any grains at all on the vegan diet as a substitute for meat and dairly calories. Grains, especially wheat, are even worse in terms of acidity than even red meats are. Legumes (basically beans), which also includes soybeans, are also quite acidic. Unfortunately, a lot of vegans end up subsituting legumes and various whole grains in place of meat. This is actually terrible for your body; grains, even whole, are full of antinutrients and are lacking in actual nutrients, and soy is notoriously terrible for men across many metrics. As far as I'm concerned, if you go full Vegan, you may slow down your hair loss slightly because you are eating less processed sh*t, but unless all you literally eat are vegetables and some fruits, you're still consuming a fair share of acidic foods and also likely a lot of antinutrients. That isn't going to improve your blood pH that much. Not to mention, there are a lot more nutrients in meat than you might initially think they are, and are a lot more bioavailable for your body to use than nutrients in vegetables, especially if you eat your vegetables raw. Cooking vegetables is actually good; yes, cooking will damage the nutrients, but it will also make the remaining ones a lot easier for your body ot use.

I think the ideal diet would probably be this: eliminate all grains and legumes from your diet, and either fully eliminate or strongly cut back on your dairy consumption. Eat plenty of vegetables and meat, though don't go completely overboard on either one. No processed sh*t allowed either.

Even then if you did that, I doubt it would be enough on its own to stop and/or reverse hair loss naturally.

Really doubt blood ph contributes at all man. It’s fairly tightly regulated by your respiratory and renal system so unless you have an issue with those organ systems then your body should be able to handle any renal load.

If you’re really that worried about it just supplement sodium bicarbonate or hyperventilate multiple times per day. Don’t think it will make any dofference though

Vegetarian but cutting out cheese and milk is a fairly low cost alternative to being a vegan.

I cut out all dairy recently but cant get myself to quit meat lol. Dairy is soo much easier to quit.

For the last week I’ve been eating lots of cream cheese and sugary yogurt and today my scalp has been itching like mad and where it itches I’ve pulled out 3 hairs in one go. Not good.

Guys
Some good friends of mine have been vegan for years
They got bald
I was a vegetarian with some vegan periods when I went bald
How many times do I have to say it?

Yes but if you have the gene you will speed it up eating crap. Aren’t we using dermapens and other treatments to slow it down. You want to counteract that by the eating mcDonalds and Burgerking.
