Okay, so I'm at the point where my hair looks okay if I keep it short and use gel.

However, it is slowly bailing out in the back and has been bailing out overall for the last ten years. I'm 29 years old.

My hairline has recessed but still looks okay. However, overall, it's much thinnner than it used to be.

I want to use Dutasteride. I've read some posts here and people suggest .5 every over day is cool.

I don't want to experiment with finasteride and see if it just works. I want to unload the tactical nuke of dutasteride and let it work.

Can anybody tell me an average of the users that used it with success?

My plan is to use dutasteride until I have regrown a substantial amount and thickened up considerably and then switch over to something like Hair Genesis (nobody talks about it here, though) for maintenance until something more high tech comes along.

Okay, so I've still got a fair amount of hair left. It's thinner but "workable" What should dutasteride do for me?

Hey dude, I'm 29 as well. dutasteride, as you may or may not know is not certified by the FDA yet -- that has kept me away.

But I, like you, can still sport a decent salad if its cut short and gelled  . All I've been using is Propecia, and have been for 2 yrs now, with no side effects or any further hair loss. I can honestly say, my hair now could even be a touch thicker than 2 yrs ago (going by photos etc).

But this probably doesn't help ya though.

Hair Genesis is snake oil thats why nobody talks about it.

Yeah, hair genesis and avacor are both B.S. :boid:

Dutas is some heavy artilary. :firing: May want to wait on that as nobody knows the side effects yet. Plus it is more expensive than finasteride and finasteride can work just as well or not at all just like Dutas. Start with finasteride, my 2¢.

Did you experience shedding?

In my opinion you'd be experimenting with dutasteride. finasteride is proven to work. I can't remember wher I read this but someone said use finasteride for a year to see how you tolerate side effects. If you don't experience any then try dutasteride.

Propecia works. Don't take a chance with dutasteride yet. Save that as a last resort.

okay, well, I tried Propecia several years ago for about six months (my only time experimenting with this stuff) and experienced no side effects.

How about this? dutasteride for one year and then cut back to finasteride?

I didn't notice any shedding. Could have happened but not enough for me to stress out. But on finasteride, my hair is definately thicker and easier to style now than 2 yrs ago. :D

dutasteride doesn't bring you the "kickstart". Dutasteride is able to lower DHT level by 90%, Finasteride by about 70%. So I don't think dutasteride is the wonderweapon for regrowth since there is only a gradual difference between both treatments.
I have to agree with BHD. Try finasteride for some time. If you notice any side effects they will disappear in a few days after stopping with finasteride. dutasteride-side effects may take longer to disappear.

If you start with dutasteride you won't be able to cut back to finasteride with any certainty of maintaining any regrown hair as there will be no way to know whether or not the extra DHT suppression of dutasteride over finasteride is responsible for the regrowth.

Which is why I, as a user of finasteride for 20 months and dutasteride every 2nd day for a year, would urge you to start on finasteride and give it at least a year to judge its efficacy.

Should I also use minoxidil?

From what I'm understanding, minoxidil "fades" after two years but if you keep using it, it maintains what you grew??

Also, from what I understand, finasteride "Pushes" and minoxidil "Pulls" for lack of a better analogy?

And, when combining the two with Nizoral, is the rate of regrowth increased by any measure or is it okay to just go with one or the other?

Thanks. I may hold off on the dutasteride.
