Time to face it, gutted.

Hi there, not sure if this is in the right place, but i'm a little desperate.

I am a 27 year old male, who stepped out the shower fifteen mintues ago, looked in the mirror, and thought it's getting worse and worse.

I used to have extremely thick dark hair which people would comment on. Around the age of 14-15 i noticed that it would itch slightly at the temples, and it was very easy to pull the hairs out.

Over the next ten years my hair very slowly receded backwards at the temples. About a year ago it got worse and the recession went back further. I must stress at this point that i comb my hair forward and is still relativly thick. People only notice if i pull my hairline back (which is met by an intake off breath, and a ****ing hell mate), or if its wet. I bought some alpecin to see if that would help, and it smelt nice, but i could now see my scalp throught the frontal part of my hair.

Over the last month i have tried Nizoral every couple of days but i'm not sure if its making it worse. I can feel the baldness sometimes, with intense itching at the temples and the exact points that my hairline is receding at, it's really destroying me.

The shower that i just had, i washed my hair with just conditioner and i must have counted at least 30 hairs on my hands. I'm demorilised by the sight of hair on my hands, on my pillow, ill just be driving and i'll see it falling down past my eyes into my lap.

My father was balding but is now unfortunatly passed away, so i know it is male pattern baldness, but not sure to what extent.

I just need some advice on what to do next. I am happy to just keep what i have, but i do not want to take propecia. I looked at the pros and cons and i just dont want the side effects, can i still keep hair without it?

I am on a budget, but this means a lot to me, i know that sounds wierd. I feel a little selfish that so many people have it worse than me in life, and that i shouldnt worry it's not life threatining, but i suppose thats how much it has effected me.

Any comments, advice, products that could help please let me know, anything in my lifestyle or food that i should avoid. If i can sort this, it would change my outlook.

Thanks in advance

Mate if you don't want to take Propecia and are worried about the side effects, I would take Minoxidil 5%.

Some people complain about its effectiveness on here, but it is 100% safe and will not mess with your libido or erections.

At worst, it will halt your hairloss for a minimum 3year period, at best you'll experience some initial regrowth and maintain what you have for about 10years.

Well.. It really sounds like you'are going to thin out more. I'm not saying you'll get bald, but your right that it's the right time to do something.
The good news is, that there's ways to slow down, halt or even reverse your hairloss, but as you've probably already seen on all pages on male pattern baldness (male-pattern-baldness) your hair is falling out because of DHT, which your body has generated since you started becoming a man.
The nizoral is a good way of keeping your itchy and red scalp getting worse and for me personally, it's making my scalp alot healthier. So I would really recommend that.
The bad news is (if you can call them bad? depends on how you think about it) is that to help your hair from falling out, you need to start taking a medicine that will stop that overflow of DHT in your body from making your hair sencitive. I've been taking finasterid for 5 months now and i'm not sure if it's gonna help me from getting bald, but at least I know that there's scientific facts that shows that it could. You need to start reading about the stuff (theres tons of material in here) and understand why your hair is falling off to understand why you need to take the medicine in order to stop it. Most ppl don't get sideeffects but some does. Therefore, if you start taking it: listen to your body, not ur brain and these sides where ppl post tons of heartbreaking stories about how finasteride destroyed there sexlife. I personally think that these ppl get small sides and make them bigger in their head.
Anyway - start reading - start acting - and don't use minoxidil.. almost all ppl get tired of applying that stuff in here.
Good luck, hope it was useful.

I don't blame you for not favouring propecia, to be honest. I don't like it much either.

But you need a way to calm down the androgenic stimulation around those follicles. Do you have any other health problems? I do believe that male pattern baldness can have a connection to other things (IMO it can be a sign of sex hormone imbalance or high systemic inflammation).

Your best bet without finasteride/Propecia for a quick fix I think is Eucapil or RU58841 coupled with some stimulation to save the hair that's still kicking. Spectral RS, minoxidil, copper peptides (folligen, tricomin etc), stuff like that :)

dw male pattern baldness isn't necessarily a life sentence these days but you have to approach it with a sense of direction and coordination :)

Thanks guys, minoxidil foam was something i was toying with but reading between the lines it seems half like it half dont.

Im also unsure on what Eucapil or RU58841 are, i have read about people mentioning the latter but do not know what it is or where i can obtain it, i live in UK?

I don't have any underlying health problems (that i know of), i do believe that sex is related to DHT and male pattern baldness, purely for the fact that sometimes when "i'm on the job", i get the itchy tingly feeling on the thinnist parts of my scalp where most hair seems to fall.

Any advice is more than welcome. I have been very close to buying propecia before but i dont think its an option, i'm a little wary of it, not sure if this is down to reading too many forums scaremongering, or genuine fear (i would like kids one day, and unsure on what long term effect, if any, this may have)

Thanks in advance

Eucapil and RU58841 are the strongest topical antiandrogens available!

Eucapil you can get through www.eucapil.com, RU has to be bought from a lab and mixed yourself! It's a bit experimental but for many, proves very powerful :)

Of course there are milder topicals such as spironolactone, flutamide, ketaconazole/nizoral, etc :) It's up to you really

It sounds as if you're suffering mainly from a receding hairline, so in that respect Minoxidil and Nizoral should definitely be your big 2.

Minoxidil 5% and Nizoral 2% have sent my hairline from NW2.75 to NW2.25 in only 2months. Who knows my regrowth may have peaked already, all I know is that there was a lot of so called "peach fuzz" which is now going terminal and joining back into my existing hairline. Also the shedding from this area has come to a standstill.

I'm 24 and I think minoxidil works better for younger males than say those in their late 30s/early40s, you're only 27 so I think there's a fair chance it will work for you. So I say stick with a minoxidil + nizoral regimen for 6months and then assess your progress.

If you're not satisfied after this time then add an anti-androgen (Finasteride/spironolactone/Revivogen/the others mentioned above) or if you don't like the idea of those, then use copper peptides (tricomin/folligen/Prox-N) alongside minoxidil to stimulate more growth.

Also, if you're based in the UK and you want Regaine, they sell 6months supply for £78.25 in Boots.

http://www.boots.com/en/Regaine-For-Men ... ply_33009/

Or you could order some Rogaine foam from America, as it's apparently easier to apply, dries quicker and is slightly more effective.

You can also get Nizoral 2% at Boots or Tesco for just over a fiver.

I have ordered some foam and will be using that and nizoral, might get some supplements but not sure how effective this will be.

I will give regular updates on my progress, like i said just hoping to keep what i have and halt my recession.

Yeah maybe I go a little OTT with my Eucapil and RU! lol :)

To be fair, all these are top notch, cutting edge treatments (at least out of the more mainstream options) and I think most things in this thread will give you some reasonable degree of success!

Maybe go for the minoxidil and Nizoral if you want, it would most probably work quite well :)
