So I bought finasteride, I am not suffereing with hairloss, minor thinning in places nothing major but thought I would get some finasteride just to cover myself.

Few questions

If I am not thinning, will it affect me and make me thin? I am 31 by the way just in case age matters.

Does it cause a shed?

Does it thicken hair that is already on my head? or hair that is thinner?

Thanks

If you don't have male pattern baldness, finasteride will be useless and no your hair won't thicken. I don't know what you call "minor thinning" though, maybe post some pics ?

Don't mess with your hormones if you don't have male pattern baldness, it's plain stupid. If you think you're thinning however, it's good to start early.

Then take your thyroid meds and see if that resolves your hair problem. If not go see a derm/hair transplant surgeon for a better evaluation.

Yeah dude, you shouldn't have waited so long before deciding to treat your hair loss. At this point your only treatment option is to get a hair piece.

I know its not crazy bad, but I have lost density and some hair over the last few years and more so this year.

Would I be stupid to start finasteride?

If you are truly losing your hair and you want to try to stop it then taking finasteride is smartest thing you can do.

I don't think you have baldness. Check in a mirror at your side hair. If it has the same space between hair, than it isn't baldness. Your doing this preventatively. Keep in mind five percent of men lose their libido from finasteride. Odds are in your favor, but still it is a risk.

You don't have a receding hairline. The majority (but not all) of men start losing hair in the temples first. The best indicators for your baldness pattern are uncles on both sides of your family. I personally think that baldness is hereditary, but everybody has different hair growth cycles, so that is why baldness patterns are not the same for everybody.

Notcoolanymore,

Why do you think this guy is losing his hair? I have thyroid issues and my hair is dry but thick like this guy's.

Most uncles bald and grandfathers bald..so not too good on that side haha
