I'm on finasteride right now, and things are going great.

however, i still get the odd tingly/itchy feeling in my upper temples (the only area im having hair loss).

im assuming this is -bad-.

i have thin hair (folicle size), and am considering nizoral. is it too harsh for thin hair? is it a must since i get that tingly feeling from time to time?

i have -zero- dandrug or any redness on ym scalp, and i only get the tingly feeling a few times a day if that, so it's not that that bad.

sp 1] what exactly does that tingly feeling mean, and 2] is nizoral a must for me even with thin hair folicles?

thanks!

The tingling/itching stops for a lot of us after 1-3 months on finasteride. I tried to stop it with Nizoral in late 09 before I got on finasteride, but it did not help.

How long have you been on finasteride? My scalp used to tingle and itch like crazy, sometimes to the point where i felt like scratching the skin off my head! I'm now nearly 10 weeks into finasteride, and i scarcely have scalp issue (except when i overuse nizoral, but im especially sensitive to that stuff)

anyway, despite what i just said about nizoral, i believe it is a no brainer treatment that you should definitely be using.

if youre worried about it negatively affecting you, you could try a few things

use the 1%, less harsh than 2% with similar benefits i believe

use it every third day if every other day proves too harsh

leave it on for only 2 or so minutes as opposed to the full 5 (since my head is sensitive 2, maybe 2 1/2 min is all i can comfortably get away with, but most get on fine with 5), i cant say that 2 minutes will be so beneficial for slowing the balding process via anti-androgenic mechanisms but it should be enough time to help alleviate scalp troubles, which is half the battle

try something like regenepure (a gentler, sls-free 1% keto shampoo) but for the love of god stay away from revita- ever in my life have i shed so much as i did on revita

i have been tinkering with this shampoo forever what with my sensitive scalp and all, its a fine balance- but when i strike it right i think it is truly helpful
