okay so I started minoxidil 8 months ago and I had a huge shed to begin. About 4 months into the Shed I started taking propecia which made the shed much worse. When I started I got very oily, and my scalp got very itchy. I almost quit like many do but decided to keep going. I am now 8 months minoxidil foam and jus uner 4 months on propecia. I shed for the firs three months on propecia and it has finally stopped! I will post before , during the massive shed, and recent pictures so you can see that the hair is actually coming back. All pictures are with flash on. Note my hair now is slightly longer but not to much longer.

first pic is now, second pic Is before treatment, and last pic is during massive shed
Please everyone stick it out.

It really does make me worry that you shed for so long. Isn't that unusual? From your post I gathered that you shed for 7 months, is that right? How much shedding are we talking about? Right now I'm shedding between 150-300 hairs a day, I can't handle 7 months of that! I'd be bald!

Not sure you really gained anything here. Seems like you lost a ton of hair, then grew it back. You before and after density seems very similar, just longer hair in the after pic/different lighting.

Right, I do not think I gained anything as of yet, I'm simply showing that I shed massive amount and it is starting to come back, hoping for regrow th in the future.

also when I was shedding I kept it short so I could not really count the hairs which helped. I know you don't think you can shed for so long but if you don't try you will end up bald anyway!

Your hair doesn't look bad, but I need to be honest. It doesn't really look different, density wise. (Which might mean you are
keeping it, that's not always a bad thing).

Really surprised at the shedding.

I've found that some generic Finasteride brands cause me to itch a lot. Others are really good, and don't cause any problems.
A lot of times I think it is part of the generic ingredients, that are mixed and not the Finasteride itself.

That last picture looks really bad. Hopefully you are completely done shedding like you said, and will not go back
to picture number three.

i would agree I think the density is the same, but that picture after the massive shed was only 5 weeks ago so it's coming back hopefully it continues to go above baseline. But we will see

That much shedding for so long? I thought it stops after 1 or 2 months? Or is it that much of an individual thing how long a person sheds?

According to most anecdotal reports the shed lasts 2-3 months. I have no idea why it lasted so long for the OP. Maybe he had underlying Telogen Effluvium.

i think I shed so long because I started the treatments at two different times and both have initial shedding periods
