Topical finasteride and minoxidil - is Remox the only way?

After seeing a chart that stated that topical finasteride and minoxidil proved to be the best bet for hair regrowth, I was wondering if Remox was the only source for this, beside concocting it myself.

The best bet is oral finasteride (Propecia or generic) & topical minoxidil (Rogaine or generic).

Topical finasteride is generally only used by people who are scared of finasteride side-effects. There aren't really any? studies to show topical finasteride is effective.

Wouldn't trust that Dr Klein site personally. Looks sh*t.

If you read the chart again it says 'Topical Minoxidil + Finasteride'

The finasteride is to be taken orally!

This is not true. There is actually a study which proves that topical fina is working. However, nothing is said whether we have less side effects or not.

Topical Finasteride

However, I can't explain how it works exactly, because finasteride acts only on 5-alpha-reductase type II. And, as everybody knows, testosterone is converted by 5-apha-reductase into DHT only in the liver. So the only explaination I can point, is that even if it's a gel it must go into the blood and then in the the liver to stop the DHT production.
So to my mind, il will probably give se same side effects. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Well everyone reacts differently to the drug. I believe most people experience side effects with this drug and for you to go around saying "there aren't really any" is a mistake.

A number of males have suffered erectile dysfunction, impotence, low libido, gynecomestica, and testicular pain (you actually mention this in your regimen by saying you experienced "nut ache" during the beginning of your propecia usage) after using Propecia and that is only with 1mg each day. Many of them are irreversible. And if I might add....pregnant women can't even touch this medication otherwise it might cause birth defects. Does that sound safe to you?

It's funny to me how you think Propecia is ok, but not Saw Palmetto. It has side effects too, but I don't believe they are as common or as dangerous as Propecia. What you don't realize is that many of the side effects that happen with saw palmetto are due to contaminants in the herbs due to bad manufacturing practices and not the actual herb itself..

I also believe Saw Palmetto is effective if applied topically. It is ineffective for hair loss internally because only 2% actually reaches the scalp.

I believe I misinterpreted hairhoper and I do apologize for the first half of my post (not second half). I believe you meant to say "There aren't really any studies to show that topical finasteride is effective." The question mark you threw in there threw me off. Anyway, I decided to leave the post as is instead of editing it just to inform the newbies..

Yep, that's what I meant. Lack of studies for topical finasteride. I don't doubt side-effects can occur on finasteride.

As for Saw Palmetto, where are your studies that prove:
1. it's safe
2. it's effective

All your statements just sound like conjecture.

Please read the study. They do not said that there's no risk . They just said that the risk are minimum. I'm not a scientist and I don't use Saw Palmetto.
I just want to add some fresh information so that things can go forward. That's all.
