Topical Finasteride

I am using Nizoral shampoo 2-3 times a week and Rogaine foam twice day.

My Dr will not prescribe me Finasteride, I can find it online and they do ship to the UK but I don't want to buy fake pills so was thinking of using topical Spironolactone and/or Revivogen sold on this site.

On another site I have found liquid Finasteride 2% which I assume is used topically on the scalp. I do not see much mentioned about this product on forums.

2%? Thats 20mg.. The max you'd want is 0.1% which is more than enough to maintain the hair that you already have and possibly regrow some. I personally do believe that topical finasteride works a little better than oral finasteride. But then again i've got no evidence to prove you that coz i take finasteride orally as well as apply it topically and i'm seeing results.

Topical finasteride goes systamic and is messy to apply.IMO oral finasteride is much nore convienient and topical spironolactone is a really good initiative

Topical finasteride has no advantages over oral finasteride. It is a big hassle to apply, and it also goes systemic and will therefore have side-effects. Finasteride is essentially a dose-independent drug, and so even if less finasteride goes into your system by applying it topically than if you were taking it orally, it will still be enough to cause the same side-effects. Also, it is dangerous to be walking around with Finasteride cream on your head if there are any pregnant women around you.

Topical spironolactone is expensive, and there is little evidence that it helps to fight baldness. If it does have an effect, it is only marginal.

Thank-you for the replies and different views.

shreyaskini, if I wanted to try topical Finasteride which is sold in a 30ml bottle, could I dilute it to take it from 2% to 0.1%? I guess by adding 300ml of a vehicle like alcohol.
How are you applying your topical finasteride? Crushing Oral finasteride and mixing with a vehicle?

Paulie I agree oral finasteride is more convenient but as I cannot get a prescription I am looking at alternatives.

Rudolphus, I do not doubt that applying finasteride topically produces side effects too but if I thought it could be effective and could get the right dilution I would try it until I could find a reliable source for oral finasteride.
There are no pregnant women around me.

Regarding topial spironolactone, does that go systemic like finasteride?
Is there any evidence that Revivogen helps fight baldness?

Topical spironolactone is safe, and if any does go systemic, it is only a tiny amount. My advice to you, however, is to forget about both spironolactone and Revivogen, because there is little evidence that either of these products work, and they are expensive and are a hassle to use. Results from spironolactone or Revivogen will be minimal at best. It is best just to stick to finasteride/dutasteride, minoxidil and Nizoral.

Dude, go to a dermatologist or a hair transplant doctor. They will prescribe it. Don't go for topical finasteride, who knows if that **** even works.

Thanks for the replies.

You are right, I need to get oral Finasteride and try that for 18 months first.
I see alldaychemist sell Fincar 1mg, is that the one I need to order and take 1 pill a day?

I assume they ship to the UK.
Is there a test that we can do to see if the product is legitimate or not?

Get the generic 5 mg tablets of Finasteride, they're a lot cheaper. You can cut the tablets into fourths and take 1.25 mg daily of Finasteride. Fincar is generic 5 mg tablets of Finasteride while Finpecia is 1 mg. As I stated, get the 5 mg tablets, they're a lot cheaper. They are legitimate generics, they're not fake.

Yes, oral Finasteride is better, and easer to use. Also, it is dangerous to be walking around with Finasteride cream on your head if there are any pregnant women around you, as Rudolphus stated.

I hope all goes well.

Thanks for the reply and tips Augustin,

A 4 month supply of 1MG Finpecia would cost $21:88 and a 4 month supply of 1.25MG Fincar would cost $12.99.
Are there more side effects reported with Fincar use?

Nah. Just get on it. Both are same and forget abt the side effects. The more you think abt it the worse it is for your hair. Keep calm and use Finasteride :)

It's just something my old GP said to me a few years back when I told him I had ordered some medication online because I did not want to bother him, he told me many medications ordered online are inert and he will happily prescribe it for me.
Unfortunately I have moved to another area and this GP is unhelpful. It would be a waste of 18 months to find out I had been taking ineffective pills.

I have ordered the Finpecia now anyway.

Do you know a free site where I can upload my video and it wont get deleted if I don't sign for a few weeks? Had that happen to me twice before which is annoying.
