Topical Penetrating Agents?

Can anyone shed any light on what some of the best topical penetrating agents are - as far as effectiveness and safety? I assume that those of you who make homemade spironolactone and finasteride lotion/gel might be able to chime in on this one.

Possibly Eucapil Fluridil, though relatively expensive. Check out http://www.multiflorum.com for a fairly cheap herbal topical. Australian Golden Emu Oil seems good in the understandable theory provided. However, topicals may only support finasteride or dutasteride to varying degrees.
I used saw palmetto berry juice for several months to create vellus from zero growth after 20 years full male pattern baldness, which few seemed to believe possible. There are many other topicals which are clearly rip offs. Minoxidil works better for some than others. Good hunting. Boru

I'm looking into the possibilities of creating a homemade topical incorporating spironolactone and dutasteride, possibly green tea powder as well. I was wondering about the prospects of using multiple penetrating agents, but I'm not really sure how feasible any of this is. I am using topical finasteride lotion right now, and I feel that it's becoming increasingly effective (though only time will tell). I'm just going to try to blast DHT at the scalp from all possible angles, just to see if it can be done.

The most common penetrating vehicle for spironolactone from what I remember from others is Dermovan. Glycerin is another possibility, but I don't know how compatible it is with spironolactone.

You probably could make small batches (a day's worth?) using alcohol.

Damn, Gardener, I've been proselytising about the beauties of glycerin and spironolactone long enough for you to know better :D

Seriously - it is the business in all respects apart from the length of time it takes to dry. It is a particularly good solvent (better than alcohol or water) owing to some strange molecular property which I read up about but which escapes me. Moreover it is a moisturiser, and is commonly added to haircare to 'plump' up the shaft (though whether this is bollox is open to debate).

Dr. Lee of minoxidil.com uses glycerin as the base of his PPG free minoxidil preparations.

I'd love to make a huge batch of a DHT scavenging topical (perhaps a spironolactone/dutasteride/finasteride combo) that'd last me a year. Wouldn't that be nice?

I definitely yield to your knowledge on the topic. I do recall you speaking of glycerin as a vehicle, which is why I mentioned it, but I don't recall your assessment of the results.

Indeed. It's a common moisturizer, proven to be well tolerated on the skin (as opposed to PPG, or alcohol, which can be rough on skin.)

Of course, the mother of all penetrating agents is DMSO. It's banned in the US (I don't specifically know why, but it must carry some risks), but if you could dissolve spironolactone into it, and keep it suspended in the solution at the necessary dosage, you might really be cooking with gas.

something to do with the fact that it absorbs absolutely everything, lead from the air etc and then takes all that deep down into your body.

Heres a list for you with a few examples of each (in no particular order of efficacy)

Alcohols (methanol, ethanol, propanol, ...)
Fatty alcohols (cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol)
Fatty acids (oleic acid, stearic acid, myristic acid, ...)
Fatty acid esters (isopropyl myristate, isopropyl palmitate, ...)
Polyols (Propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, glycerol)
Anionic surfactants (sodium lauryl sulfate)
Cationic surfactants (benzalkonium Cl, cetylpryidinium Cl)
Amphoteric surfactants (Lecithins)
Nonionic Surfactants (Spans, Tweens, poloxamers, Miglyol)

You should be able to find some combo of the above and the drugs you wish to combine that is stable.

I do try to live life to the fullest. Two weekends ago I rode a camel for two days into the Jordanian desert (Wadi Rum) and later swam in the Dead Sea on a trip with my roommate and closest girl friends. This weekend I am visiting Athens and Turkey (Kusadasi) with my parents and younger brother. I exercise every day and am anything but fat. I just like experimenting with these types of things - it's fun - and who knows, maybe I could regrow some of that hairline. So go give your sermon somewhere else, Ron.

PS - Your name sucks.

Nonsense!!! Plenty of fat lazy guys have good hair. It's a genetic lottery, and the science is complex. Why not do some real study instead of posting mere wishful thinking.

Fat guys with hair don't get stressed???? Now you are getting really silly, thanks for the laugh though. If I was big fat and hairy I would apply for the job of Hagrid in Harry Potter.

And where was this conclusion drawn from? From the RonnieKia Online Institute for Hairloss Studies, or from out of the a**h**?

What are you talking about, Ronny?!

You're the ugly loser who repeatedly posts your insecurities and flaws, then assumes everyone who is balding has them.

I don't know where you think you grew these new set of balls from all of a sudden, but they definitely don't suit you. So shut your b**ch mouth.
