I know I have asked this before, but this goes to the topical spironolactone users who have used topical spironolactone for at least a year. Can you guys tell me if you had any improvements or maintenance on topical spironolactone. The reason why I'm asking this to people who have used it for over a year is it gives a better indication if it benefits or not.

I've been using topical spironolactone-- liquid and cream-- in my regimen for the last few months.

I have a large regimen, so it's kind of hard to tell.

But since my addition of spironolactone, all of my results have jumpstarted-- the results, obvious.

In my honest opinion, spironolactone is excellent at halting the further progression of hairloss, with slight regrowth.

I use the cream on my hairline, and can vouch for its effectiveness in restoring the hairline, or at least providing ample regrowth there.

I recommend the use of spironolactone.

I think everytime I have seen such a thread, the exact contribution of spironolactone could not be measured coz no one is ready to use spironolactone alone. It is just one part of the anti-hairloss army as is in the case of Aplunk1.

I've been using the spironolactone 5% cream along with minoxidil 5% nightly. I've had buzzed hair but I'm starting to grow it out now. I know I've heard it's tough to apply spironolactone 5% to your entire scalp when you have longer hair but is it possible or do I have to switch to the 2% liquid?

ManUFan,

I saw Eurotrip. There are some Manchester United Fans in it, and they are crazy. They beat the sh*t out of anyone who comes in their way.

Is that the way MU fans really are?

I just think its the movie, not all Man U fans are crazy, but there are some who are borderline...

I dig my spironolactone 5. It's been great for those stubborn upper temple corners.

Hey "The Gardener", have you been maintaining on your regimen? Did spironolactone help thicken things up for you? Thanks.

I am using just minoxidil 2% and spironolactone 2%. Have been using this combination since early March, so it has beeb two months now, with maintenance in general. I will have a better idea of where things are headed by next "winter" or so. So far I cannot say anything such as "Shedding has come to a halt", etc., but when I examine my head of hair, there is nothing overly different, except I think there are a lot of tiny hairs popping up all over, but time will tell if these grow longer or not. It is too bad that I have to experiment like this long-term on my own head, but I just have to hope I don't lose ground from my current diffuse Norwood 1.5.

I guess Im the only person on the boards thats used spironolactone and only spironolactone for more than a year.

Simply put...I wondered if spironolactone was really doing anything for me and I got off of it for about 2 months...well im back on it now :p

I've been on it for more than a year now. I definitely feel it's helping, although that's not a scientific endorsement, since I've been using other stuff. I don't think you have too much to lose from trying it though. I make my own topical, and it's ve-ery cheap.

If you are going to use topical spironolactone make sure you cover it up with a thin application of Emu oil immediately afterwards. In fact think of the Emu oil as part of the vehicle.

HairyN --> If it was doing nothing for you, why did you use it at all ? OTOH, Seems like you got back on it coz you realized it was doing something...or maybe you just love having spironolactone on your head ??

Is it true that spironolactone makes your scalp skin darker?

When I applied spironolactone and Copper Peptides (TOGETHER) it turned my scalp completely yellow.

Wait at least an hour or more before applying copper peptides.

Emu oil is likely to help "carry" actives of any kind into the skin. Applying emu oil after applying any topical wil likely increase that topical's effectiveness. You should probably wait a few minutes for the topical to dry just a bit, however.
