Hi,

I have the following questions regarding topical spironolactone:

1) which topical spironolactone should I buy? (Dr Lee, this site's; other options?)
2) Anyone with positive/negative results?
3) Is there a significant chance on adverse side effects?

Thanks in advance, any input is highly appreciated!

answer to one - s5 spironolactone cream from this site!

very few people report results because its 100% maintenance really so its hard to tell

not really feasible for diffuse thinners - putting cream all over ur head!

I don't know which cream has the best vehicle. Topical spironolactone is good stuff. Great to add to a regimen. Only problem is it is expensive to do your whole head. Fact: you can go bald on top, but your sides still thin too just not all the way. For this reason, I like to use a regimen that gets my whole head. spironolactone is too expensive for my whole head. That is why I use EGCG instead. It is experimental though, so hard to say if it is as good as spironolactone. But it also is an anti-oxidant, which is good for hair too. Still, I don't know how good my vehicle is.

I also have a question, generic spironolactone tablets are dirt cheap, would the tablets be an effective treatment if crushed into say Nizoral shampoo, Keto and spironolactone shampoo would be a nice way to combat hair loss.
And if so, what are the measurements of say spironolactone to Keto? Should there be a certain raito for maximum effectiveness? Or is it simply the more crushed spironolactone in the bottle, the greater receptor blocking properties?

Topical spironolactone works. I use S5 cream.

Temple I had been applying it too, has improved, whereas the temple which was left untouched is in bad shape (yet that temple was much stronger then the one that has improved). Either way the velius hair, did not die and has been alive for 6+ months.

Thing about this product it requries patience, also don't expect massive cosmetic changes. Great for maintainance imo. Not lost ground on the temple I have been applying it too.

Thanks for the reactions so far, one question that I still have is:
-is topical spironolactone safe?

Based on the research I've done there is NO systemic absorption of topically applied spironolactone which suggests I will not suffer from side-effects. On the other hand, topical spironolactone is NOT approved by the FDA and therefore I question its safety.

On the other hand, the two treatments approved by FDA for hairloss do not seem to be totall safe as well:

-finasteride (based on the huge amounts of customer complaints on pretty much every hairloss forum, there are just too many complaints)

-minoxidil (trying it myself, but I do seem to suffer from cardiovascular side effects; I am a (semi)proffeisonal endurance athlete and therefore I am very sensitive to changes in my body, but do more people have the feeling minoxidil does affect their staminia/cardiovascular activity?)
Thanks a lot for you answers!
