Topicals seem out of the question ? Any ideas on what Tops?

I am thinking of going on some Topicals. Hence I was observing my typical day at office to see How many people come close to me and can smell the sh*t. I realise that its impossible for me to goto work with Tops on. I interact with too many people, meetings in rooms with 8-10 people that is simply not big enough.

Now all the Tops I have seen being discussed in the Forum have to be applied twice in a day. I think its very difficult for me to do that.
Is there any Topicals that I can apply only once in the night and also may skip some nights ( you know you cant put it when you get some ...;) ). Any inputs guys?

If you're concerned about odor, spironolactone is the worst. Smells like a skunk sprayed your head, so if you don't want your associates thinking you have an ounce of chronic in your pocket, look for something else.

You can use minoxidil once a day, use it after work and in the middle of the night, or use it an hour before your shower then wash it out of your hair. Supposed to only take 30 minutes to be effective.

Rogaine has no smell.. At least in my case, I don't notice any smell, and it has also no color.

But it makes you rscalp look oily. But maybe you can brush your hair and cover the scalp.

Also, gourmetstylewellness.com owner says he used Revivogen and it worked for him, so who knows, maybe it could work for you and you might give it a try. :hairy:

I'm in the same boat as you, image is a big thing for me. Most guys apply Minoxidil 1ml twice a day, however I apply 2ml once at night at least an hour or more before bed. I have mild thinning of my crown.

I am seeing fantastic results and I'm only three months in. I can already tell, Im going to make a full recovery.

Try Doctor Proctor's stuff. His Proxiphen and Prox-N are cosmetically acceptable. Go to his site and read up on his stuff.

http://www.doctorproctor.com/

His stuff is expensive but it is very concentrated and will last a long time (well it does for me). The Prox-N, for example, only needs about 10 drops applied. It spreads and soaks into surrounding skin very well.

Hey Old Baldy,
I just started using Prox-N. I'm a chick and have Androgenetic Alopecia. :(

Since I have long hair, I'm finding that 8 drops isn't enough to get it through my whole scalp. Should I just concentrate it along the hairline and temples? I thinning all over but it's mostly visible at the temples and sides.

Also, do people shed right after starting this? I'm just 10 days in and already seem to have more shedding in the areas I'm applying it (but it could be from nizoral 2%). Maybe I'm just lucky and have really aggressive Androgenetic Alopecia.

Any advice?

Yes, first apply it to bald areas. It spreads very well, (i.e., about 3 times the size of the da** drop AFTER it is spread a little).

For hairy parts, just part your hair and put a drop right on the scalp. Move that drop just a tad. It will soak in and spread out very well.

(I wish I knew how Doctor Proctor made his stuff so penetrating. There's a book on penetration enhancers I could buy to use when making my homemade concoctions but it costs $200.00!)

Hey OB,
Thanks so much for replying and for the advice. It's nice to know at least that Proctor's stuff penetrates well. Let's hope it actually does some good!

How is your topical regime coming? If you come up with any good homemade concoctions, let me know - I'll buy some off you! Seriously, this balding thing is tough on a girl!

But on his website. Dr Lee says his spironolactone is odorless. Is that not true??

http://www.minoxidil.com/topical.htm

5% spironolactone cream - no smell
2% spironolactone liquid - potential for smell, when mixed with minoxidil, and heat (not just body heat, but a hot day kind of heat). OK for evening applications.

I heard proxiphen is a cream, unlike prox-n. I hope it still spreads well, because i can't use spironolactone cream on anywhere except the thinnest areas and hairline (even then, no further back than a centimetre or so) as i have longish hair (3 inches or so).

Im considering 2% just so i can use it everywhere, even though 5% is better. Maybe im just new to the spironolactone thing, cos parting hair and doing it that way doesn't cut it for me, i still put most of it on my hair, not the scalp.

Does anyone know if proxiphen spreads as badly as spironolactone-cream?

I'm regrowing hair. However, it is a SLOW process for me. Overall though, I'm very satisfied. I'm old you know!
