Out of Propecia and minoxidil which is better at thickening existing thinner hair?

Should i use both at the same time?

Propecia helps you maintain your hair on the vertex and crown better long-term. Minoxodil is better for balding crowns and regrowth. Minoxidil is cheaper and available in generic form at drug stores, but Propecia works better. I'd recommend starting off with just Propecia and adding Minoxidil later if you need more regrowth.

I agree, start with finasteride and then add min at a later date if needed.

I still have hair on top but it is thinning, i want to get it growing thick again.

I have a small amount of hairloss on my vertex and hairline that i would like to regrow.

Any ideas?

I`ve just seen a dermatologist about my thinning hair, went from very full set of hair to being able to see my scalp when wet in a years time. He claimed that my hairs per square centimeter were the same on top of my scalp as they were at the sides. Therefore putting me on propecia was out of the question for him given al the side effects.
He basically said that my wasn`t falling out, only that existing hairs returned thinner after falling out. He proposed that my only option was hairthickeners. He even did the "pull test" after which he claimed that my hair was still strong on top, only thinner. He said that my hairline is still very strong and my hair still has a lot of volume.
Is this specialist talking nonsense or not?

This is commonly called "Male Pattern Baldness", and you should be on Finasteride if you want to maintain. Make that guy drink a bottle of Minoxidil and ask him again if he recovers.

Hey all, wondering if I should go to a Derm.. I've been off minoxidil for about 2 months now and no hair loss in those two months, which makes me wonder if it is male pattern baldness that I originally self diagnosed myself with because I had 'diffuse thinning.' But the thing about it, is that it's consistent all over my scalp(sides and back as well) and doesnt seem to follow any Norwood or balding pattern. Advice please.
Thanks

Sounds like you should go to a trichologist, if your losing from the sides as well it would be worth checking out, or at the very least, post some photos..

Just some photos, Looks to be diffuse thinning but concerned about the recent loss of side and back hair.

A lot of guys with no at all male pattern baldness look like that with a shaved head, your crown looks like it may be slightly affected. If it is male pattern baldness you caught it early but I would go to a Doctor for a diagnosis due to the strange pattern.

Well my GP seems to think its male pattern baldness, while my dermatologist two weeks later says it doesnt look like male pattern baldness. He seems to think that I have Seborrhoeic dermatitis but that doesnt really explain the diffuse thinning I wouldnt think. Whats the best deterrent for SD, I've been using Nizoral shampoo for a while.
Cheers

Currently on my 5th week on .25mg ED Propecia I am seeing a lot more tiny, strainy weak hair falling out and some with THICK SHAFT and the tops of the hairs thin which brings me to the conclusion Propecia has already begun thickening existing hair.
