Hey guys whats up.
I am 17 and unfortunately I suffer from this disgraceful thing called male pattern baldness. I have noticed that my hairlines been receding and my hair is falling out a lot, thus, I went to a two docs and both of them told me I have Androgenic Alopecia[my dad is bald, hence its genetic - surprinsingly no one in my family(either from mom either from dads side) is bald]

Both of those docs did not hesitate to put me on propecia and simply said there are not side effects from them(way too much generalising right?).

I am DEFINITELY not going to take propecia/finasteride, even more(less ;P) considering that I am only 17. My beards still growing and my body is not fully developed yet.

Obviously Id like to keep my hair/avoid further loss, nevertheless, I am not willing to pay for it with my health.

To make a long story short.

Does anyone recommend a good/effective treatment without Propecia/Finasteride. A treatment that wont mess up with my hormones?

Thank you very much!

Bear in mind English is not my first language, so if I weren't clear about something just tell me.

You are only 17,right?...So,your sexual development is still on its way.....So,IMO propecia is not a good option for you....Probably you know that DHT is vital for secondary sexual development....So,using propecia at this tender age is not recommended....(According to WHO the adolescent age is from 10 to 19 years).....So,you picked up the very good option of avoiding propecia, that was a wise decision....
Regarding other treatments you can use minoxidil 5% & Nizral 2%,as the guys above me have mentioned....These two drugs are very effective & will keep your hair until you reach 20 years age, when you can take propecia.....
My friend also avoid propecia for sides & he has kept his hair pretty well just by using minoxidil 5%.....
Recently I came across a fact that Zinc pyrithione has the ability to increase hair density, increase hair shaft diameter & decreasing hair fall.....So,you can try a medicated shampoo that has both Ketoconazole 2% & Zinc pyrithione....I have recently started to use it.....Zinc pyrithione is no big deal but if you have the option of growing your hair even a little bit more then why not go for it?......
Hope this helps.....

Your only options are:

RU58841, CB-03-01, Minoxidil, Nizoral, and potentially Chlorine Dioxide as well as Tofacitinib (which could outperform all other treatments COMBINED).

do you think 50mg of RU is a suitable substitute for finasteride?

That is the problem. Sure there are weaker options that you can try, but sooner or later your hair loss is going to catch up with you. If your hair loss is moderately to very aggressive you are really setting yourself up for failure. Like I have said many times and will repeat here. Sure our options suck, but none of the guys that take propecia are doing so because they love the taste. We take it because we realize we really don't have any other options, unless you want to take dutasteride. Many people including myself hate to hear this, but that is the reality of the situation.

Too true mate!!!

Maybe I'm being an assh*le here, and I'm sure someone will say so if I am, but isn't it just crazy to take finasteride when you're balding at 17? I mean if someone is aggressively balding at 17, let's they would be full slick bald at 20. I mean what is this person going to do, take finasteride for 30-40 years? I mean seriously wtf. You'll spend decades wondering what your body would be like without the drug. To me, staving off hair loss for 5-10 years, ok, I get it. You're 25 or 30 and balding and you just want an extra 5 or 10 years to find a wife, settle down, and then say f*ck it all. But trying to fight genetics that present male pattern baldness at 17 for decades on end seems crazy to me.

has it been tested by someone with Androgenetic Alopecia yet?

Don't be silly, researchers don't care enough to solve Androgenetic Alopecia. Only those with alopecia areata or totalis are given the sympathy card and case studies with new drugs like Tofacitinib.

No, it hasnt been tested, but a few guys on private forums are trying it out... ive been waiting on my shipment for over 2 months, it got seized by canadian customs and i dont know if ill ever get it thanks to Canadian bureaucracy. Sigh, the stuff has great potential despite what all the negative debbie downers say 'oh, its for alopecia areata, not Androgenetic Alopecia!'

HAHA, Hellouser doesn't give a **** about safety. Just at long as the 10 guys using it don't complain about ED then it is worth a shot. Anything but finasteride haha.

There are many factors that can lead to hair loss, and my usual recommendation is to try to find the root cause of the problem. However, for young people, I do not think the advice means anything. If hair loss is super aggressive to start at teen, I doubt there are many things you can do to delay it unfortunately. If you suspect a health problem, feel free to PM me.
