No other medication in conjunction with it (big 3)? Are you documenting and photographing your trial with Tretinoin? Unfortunately as always, without b/a photos anymore opinions about your progress are moot. Also I am unaware what the safety record for Tret. is, therefore I'm reluctant to encourage continued treatment. I know it's seldom convenient but I must reiterate again that photos under good and consistent lighting are important. In the future, here are a few basic rules that ought to be applied. Thanks for sharing and all the best of luck in your endeavor to effectively combat your hair loss.

Summary: For Accurate Determination Of Product Efficacy

1. Baseline photos (good and consistent lighting) of targeted treatment areas of scalp

2. Accurate documentation of progress (+/-)

3. At least 4-6 week photo updates (good and consistent lighting)

4. Product test must be performed for 12 -18 months before final conclusions can be accurately assessed.

Good of you to share. I see what may be perceived as early temple recession. If I'm to take it for granted that you've already been "satisfactorily diagnosed" with M.P.B. what's stopping you from starting or continuing with finasteride?

Well.. the sides ofcourse.. and im scared that.. when if im trying finasteride.. like 0,25mg i would make it worse when i quit.. speed up the male pattern baldness.. can i regrow some hair in the front with just fina? what Norwood would you give me today?
Im 27 btw.

If you do have male pattern baldness then without finasteride you will not save your hair long term. If you dont want to try it because of a 1 in 50 risk of sides then its your choice but you may as well just accept the inevitable.

Dude listen your hair is fine dont take finasteride it wont do anything for your receded hairline. I was so naive and obsessed about a little thining i had on hairline and took finasteride and my hair thined significant even the sides after 6 months. i am slowly recovering after i got on minoxidil and ru58841 topical only but yet my hair is worse pre fina. Listen finasteride messes up hormones which is a known fact that cause hairloss and also upregulates androgen receptors which is a bad thing. for now your hair is very good and if you think that your hair gets worse try topicals only.

Your hair is absolutely fine. Do not get on Finasteride until it's absolutely last resort. You could risk making it worse.

There's no proof that Finasteride can make your hair loss worse.

I don't know if Finasteride can make your hairloss worse while on it, but it certainly can if you ever come off it.

Balding happens because androgen receptors in your hair/scalp are sensitive to DHT.
Using Finasteride to lower your DHT by ~70% makes androgen receptors in your hair/scalp more sensitive to the remaining DHT.
So if you take Finasteride, and then come off it for whatever reason, you've now got a scalp full of hyper-sensitive androgen receptors, and nothing to stop the DHT.

There's clinical evidence that shows Finasteride upregulates ARs. I don't know if there's clinical data yet that proves it makes your hairloss worse, but it's hardly a stretch of logic to think increased AR sensitivity = accelerated balding. Who is going to fund however many thousands it takes to fund a clinical trial just for people who think their hair got worse, when there's much more serious side effects from finasteride.
There was no proof that post-Finasteride syndrome existed a few years ago, now Merck have to include persistent erectile dysfunction on their label, and that's just the start of things to come.
There's also no proof that shedding on finasteride exists, when everybody on these forums know shedding is a response to treatment.

I'm sure the thousands of guys down the years on these forums who experienced accelerated hairloss or shedding or persistent erectile dysfunction were just making things up though, as there's no proof of it.
