Hello, I am 21 and just started my senior year of college. End of august I saw a derm who recommended I start with minoxidil. So I tried Lipogaine for about 10 days and decided to stop because I didn't want to deal with the shed at this time in my life (college goes fast, especially senior year), also read minx is basically poison.

However, its been about 10 days since i stopped lipogaine and I'm still shedding a noticeable amount. It seems like every couple times i look down on my desk theres hair there, or theres often one that comes out when i run my hand through it. What do you guys think I should do? Should I go back on Lipo? How long do you think the shed would continue if i stay off it?

Still trying to find a girl, only a year left of college...this was the worst time to experiment with a shed that will take months to regrow :(...i just am looking for a good plan of action at this point. I use Ketoconazole almost daily. I took saw palmetto for about a year, 400mg capsule twice a day and then noticed so minor adverse sexual side affects so i stopped (after stopping that my sideburns thinned out, above my ears, back hairline thinned etc.). It sucks man.

Once i get some money saved up i really think Im going for a hair transplant.

Otherwise, what do you guys think of my hairline...looking for honestly.

Shedding from minoxidil is typically a good thing, the thin weak hairs are shed and grow back thicker..

Your Hairline looks like a NW3 IMO.

It sucks hitting you this young but honestly your derm is a retard if he asked you to start minoxidil first. You need to start finasteride or dutasteride before minoxidil, as the latter doesn't do anything to stop hair loss. I'm like you I saw the rogaine ad and thought that I would start minoxidil first and everything would be okay but all your doing is wasting time as you still haven't addressed DHT miniaturizing your follicles. Get on finasteride, hopefully that will stabilize your loss.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but minoxidil doesn't work well at the hairline anyway, some people use it religiously but the temples are a b**ch to treat and minoxidil is simply too weak in that area to regrow anything other than ****ty white vellus hairs. If you get on finasteride you'd probably save what you have, maybe get a bit better.

My advice would be pick a treatment and give it time to work. Personally I would start with finasteride, but if you decide on minoxidil then at least give it time to work. Unfortunately you may go through a shed, it's just the way it is, no way around it.

If you want a fighting chance to maintain and possibly improve situation, then now is the time.
So do you think i should go back on minoxidil?

Okay, thanks for the replies everyone. Right now Im thinking either saw palmetto or going back on minoxidil... leaning towards saw palmetto cause I don't want to wrinkle my face or shed any more. Im thinking since I am shedding right now and these hairs have to regrow, taking saw would be good as it would reduce the DHT in all the follicles that are now in their growing phase. What are your thoughts?

I am also suffering with the preceding headline. What's your guy's opinion on minoxidil?

So I started Minoxidil twice a day on the 22nd of August. I believe I stopped around the 1st of September. Ive been shedding a lot since I stopped and am thinking of going back on. Are there any experts on here that would know what would happen If I started using it again today?

Im wondering If being on it for 10 days, then off it for 10 days, and on again would result in some type of double shed?
