Trying to stop it early

I'd say I'm an Norwood 1.5, but I'm no expert. I've just started taking finasteride by quartering Proscar tablets; however I have been using a Lasercomb for six months or so... I recently just ordered some Nizoral shampoo so am hoping that I can have good results.

Here is my current hairline:

Thus far I've only had hair loss generally round the temples. However I'm hoping to sustain my hairline as it is for the next few years, or even improve it slightly, after all it has gone back a bit.

This is just my story; what I'd like to know from you is whether you think I should add anything to my current regimen, and whether you think me being able to attain more hair is achievable or not with my current regimen.

Thank you for reading my thread

Also, I started noticing that I was losing hair about 2 years ago, however as it was very small hair loss I didn't think much of it, until now of course

Just an update after a week... I've had a shed of some of the thinning hairs around my temples that were beginning to go quite a bit - even though the pictures may not suggest that necessarily. By Christmas (four months down the line) hopefully I'll have some good progress to talk about.

Not trying to be a douche here, but your hair -- I would likely kill for it. At the very least I would cut off both my pinky fingers just to have half the hair you have.

That said, you're hair is perfect, at least in the pics you posted. It's movie star quality. The hairline you posted is simply a mature hairline (even calling it that is just being charitable to your own feelings regarding your "situation").

Are you just trying to depress people around here?

I'm not going to ignore your question though... I think you should do nothing to augment your regimen. Although, since I haven't had anything but purely increased shedding on hair loss meds I'm unlikely to recommend them to anyone who is not in dire straights with their hair.

I'm concerned that a Doctor would prescribe Finasteride to a man with no signs of male pattern baldness

you did see a doctor right?

and yes, most men here would kill to have your hair

Well, you are taking finasteride and you are not complaining of side effects. I think that's a really good sign. You are catching this early. I have yet the guts to get on finasteride.

Please don't think I'm trying to depress people; I'm sorry if I did. I'm just looking to stop this before it gets worse.

With regards to the pics - they make my hair look better than it really is. It's thinned a lot and doesn't have the thickness it did a year ago. Thank you for your compliments though.

I have had a few side effects, but most typically for people they ware off after a month. I'm single right now so can handle a lowering in libido for now, but even after a week of taking finasteride my libido dropped dramatically after a day or two and that got me really worried; but after a week of taking it now it's picking up fine and I'm not really worried much about it now. I'm starting to combat these side effects though with increasing my fitness programme to ensure I can get the best out of any gains I have, push any sides away, and obviously because I've spent a few months away from the gym due to studying/enjoying summer too much. I can understand why you'd be worried about take finasteride though. Just know that generally it will be the people who get the really bad side effects from finasteride who will shout about it most on the internet.
