Posted before about a receding hairline and so happens i noticed some real bad thinning when my hair was blowing in the wind in daylight.

Late 20s with a family history of balding only coming from mothers side.

One brother went diffuse thinning at 24 never fully went bald but he had a transplant done in turkey that was 50% successful. Oldest brother has a slight receded hairline with crown thinning. My second oldest brother had a receding hairline forever but now looks like his crown is rapidly thinning.

My father is 69 with full head of black hair. Barely a receding hairline. His side has very good hair genes.

I always hoped for my dads genes for hair and everyone told me i do have his but not the case anymore.

My hair started thinning at the end of my Accutane course of 5months which i finished taking in may 2015 .I shed so much hair for two years after that and a follow up with the derm few months after my Accutane course told me it was telogen effulivuim or Telogen Effluvium. I also had dents in my nails.

I also got alopecia areata once in my beard in 2014 one small light pink bald patch that grew back fully 4-5 months later.

I got male pattern baldness out of my mind after derm told me it was Telogen Effluvium and hoped my hair would regrow.

Fast forward now, i been examining my hair and its so thin you see scalp if i stand my hair up and straight.

For couple years i could run my hand through my hair and pull up 10-20 hairs. When i shower, hundreds come loose. I have long hair tied up in ponytail and recently trimmed a good amount off where it barely gets into a ponytail.

Is this still Telogen Effluvium or male pattern baldness? Im making a appointment soon.

Even my back and sides are thin and can kinda see theough scalp but its hard to catch a pic of back of head with hair standing up like i can do with top of my head

Heres a pic of how my head looks

Contrary to popular belief, excessive shedding is not a symptom of male pattern hair-loss. It is typically a sign of telogen effluvium, hormone imbalance, or malnutrition. But telogen effluvium+ male pattern baldness= disaster. Though, this case scenario is typically extremely rare. If the back and sides are equally thin as the top, it definitely means that it is is not male pattern baldness, but something else. Make an appointment with your derm or better yet, hairloss specialist. Good luck.

excessive hair loss is never ever related to male pattern baldness. telogen effluvium+ male pattern baldness is rarer than me having sex with Anna Hathway. Usually, people start using minoxidil or propecia or both when they have male pattern baldness and they see excessive hair loss which is not because of male pattern baldness but the medicine.

Finally someone else on this site who actually knows his stuff! Hats off to you, my friend. You actually seem to be doing your research rather than talking straight out of your a** like 99.97% of the members in this forum. Welcome.
