I am 24 and only 50KG and thin..so far i havent seen people around my age and with the same body attributes with male pattern baldness..But why do i have male pattern baldness?..most of the time i see fat or obese people in their 30s who have male pattern baldness..is my hair loss really male pattern baldness or due to some other factors....I know for a fact that obesity and male pattern baldness are related..i am also a twin..my twin bro is suffering from frontal thinning and temples but he does not have the top/back thinning which is classic of male pattern baldness..but i have it ..how come we both exibhit different patterns

Guest, dont be an a**h**. How about being more constructive.

If you're really thin you may have nutritional problems. But if your twin brother is experiencing male pattern baldness at the same age as you then its probably classic male pattern baldness. Crap luck I guess. Both you and your brother should get on finasteride and or minoxidil.
Now, even though their responses were harsh, these guys are right in implying that your suggestion of obesity and male pattern baldness as being directly related is a little rediculous.

I am a identical twin myself..yes my twin bro also has male pattern baldness but his is different from mine....only frontal thinning and temple loss.....mine is this and vertex a small part of it around 1 inch in diameter.. do not know why we exhibit different patterns...both of us smoke.....both us are not alchoholic and we eat the same food cooked in our house..but my bro is a easily dperessed person....could be his hair loss caused my mental disorder? BTw we both are asians (indians) and naturally we have a lot of fish, vegetables and soy products in our diet....plus spices like curries ect

anyone knows why we exibhit different patterns?....thought tht twins have the same genetic makeup?

My cousin is losing his hair but his identical twin is not. It's really strange, it would seem the onset would be at the same time.

(No the one with male pattern baldness never took accutane or steroids, though the one who isn't losing smokes a lot of pot. )

Hi;

I wonder if your hairstyle is identical (b.e. regarding lenght) to his twin brother?

TIA

Armando, your theory is even screwier than Stephen Foote's. Sebum isn't even drawn up the length of the hair. Kligman et al found that sebum seems to have an AVERSION to the hair shaft! :wink:

hairstyle, textuere is almost identical but head shape slightly differs..i have a higher and broader forehead than my twin...it has always been like that since teens and nothing to do with male pattern baldness..but wht bugs me is how come he didnt have thinning areas on his vertex whereas i do..his is only frontal/temple recede....and its more bad than mine....but difficultt to say cause it looks like the barber screwed his hair it he front wheareas i havent cut my hair on the top and front for over 2 years by the barber's....but what's so evident is he dont have any vertex less..anyone knows why?

i have always thought that pot and a lack of hair loss were related, hence why rock stars hardly ever lose it. guys, don't bombard me with you're an idiot, and where's the link, and all that. Its just a theory that's always been in the back of my mind. strange that you would say this a out the twins.

Hi Bryan;
Your idea is that sebum has not any effect in hair, then, why is called pilosebaceous system? In my opinion sebaceous gland is vital for hair.
In the other hand, Kilgman studies must be revisied carefully. Sebum is located in the surface of hair shaft, and probably in the medulla.

If pot can help patients in hospitals then why not male pattern baldness. Have you ever in your life seen a bald rasterman from Jamaica.

Predictable joke aside i smoke the herb and cannot say it stopped my loss..but then again maybe it helped, who knows?

Armando, you've never answered the question I posed to you in another forum: how do you explain the fact that men with complete androgen insensitivity have both flourishing heads of hair, and virtually no sebum production?
