Unsure whether to go back onto finasteride or not :(

Hi,

Apologies for another thread, god I'm indecisive about this stuff huh!

So anyway. I went onto Propecia around 9 months ago, I didn't really notice any improvement, but maybe that's just because the improvement was so gradual, or that I'm just stupid and didn't realise the shedding was slowing down, or something.

But anyway! 8 months in I stopped taking it, and now a month later I'm losing maybe 30-40 hairs a day which is quite a considerable jump from when I was on Propecia.

So I'm wondering whether:

  • 1. The Propecia was helping, and now I'm losing the hair that Propecia saved[/*:m:34biw41i]
  • 2. My observations were right and the Propecia didn't help, but now I'm off it my body has reacted badly[/*:m:34biw41i]
  • 3. It's all just a coincidence and I'm shedding a load more hair cos of other things (ie I've had flu on and off for a month, had laser eye surgery a month ago etc etc)[/*:m:34biw41i]

Just wondering because if it's #1, I'm right back onto it. But if it's more likely to be #2 or #3 then I'll lay off.

Cheers guys

Just from reading your posts brother.......you seem to be stressing alot. You should really learn to relax and realize that hair shedding is normal it happens to people who arnt even going bald. Also finasteride has ALOT of science backing it, and does work and has worked for many people to maintain what they have, and in some cases regrow.

Alot of people on these forums have found success with it. However man i think the best thing you can do for yourself is to take your mind off it, while your on a regime, and just let the time pass as your on it. Take a before pic now, and wait 6 months or even 10 months then take an after, then you will truely be able to tell.

Personally i dont think my baldness will go as far or bald as fast because i don't stress over it, i feel ill look good with a shaved head (hell i already shave it alot now) I can go to the beach or a pool and easily have a better looking physique than most guys with full heads of hair, i love my life, i have good friends.........me fighting hairloss is really just a matter of a personal experiment.

I suggest go back to finasteride, if you didnt experience any neg side effects and RELAX, try yoga, biking, swimming, art, music, or even a cool online video game........me personally now that its winter time, im taking up skiing ;)

Good luck man

Awesome post, cheers man!

I know this'll sound silly after my post, but I am generally pretty chilled and I never used to think about it at all when I was in it, just got on with it until someone mentioned that maybe it wasn't working, and when I went off it I didn't think about it again then either until it all started falling out again! haha.

I think my problem is a combination of being 1. very easily confused (heh) and 2. ridiculously indecisive - but now I'll just stay on it I think, haven't had any sides :)

Anyway I'll keep at it, and won't bother stopping this time unless there are any sides. Well worth a go. If I have to shave it off it wouldn't bother me too much even I don't think. Although I don't have the whole physique thing to fall back on, haha.
