Hello guys, I made a post here - https://www.gourmetstylewellness.com/intera...-your-guys-opinion-thin-crown-spot-19.127064/ - in January, so I am just posting an update and would appreciate opinions on whether its worsened and need to start finasteride. Please mind the messy fro' - lockdown struggles.

half-measures (more like quarter-measures) include zinc, biotin, multivitamin and occasional dermaroll + peppermint oil/argan oil mix.

Family history: dad balded in mid-late 20s, his brother is bald. Maternal grandfather decent hair for his age, mothers side uncle is maybe NW2.5 at 30.

If I started finasteride now would I be catching it early?

Biotin and vitamins only work if you are nutrient deficient. The rest is snake oil apart from dermaroll. Better to not do anything than spend time and $ on worthless treatments.

Your family history is not good. I recommend starting finasteride + minoxidil with at least a time gap of 1 year between the initiation of both.

Thanks man, the reason I took the vitamins and stuff is because this all started with a crash diet in september and my hair started looking sh*t about 3 months later. I think it probably kick-started the male pattern baldness genes so I'm gonna start taking 0.5mg finasteride each day and bump it to 1mg if no sides. Would you recommend this or just go straight onto 1mg?

0.5 mg inhibits nearly the same % of DHT as 1 mg. However, considering that finasteride has a half-life of ~6 hours, 0.5 mg will lead to hormone level fluctuations which can increase the risk of Telogen Effluvium. I think you should go straight to 1 mg.

if I were you I wouldn't do anything, you have a full head of hair.
the only thing I'd do is watch over it and take pictures every now and then and compare, I don't even see any sign of you balding at all.

don't go on anything, take pictures every few weeks from the same angles and the same lightings and compare, only when you see clear signs of hair loss then start finasteride or other stuff. right now you don't look like you're balding to me at all.

I hope you're right man, I guess I'll hold off for a few months and re-evaluate. I've already ordered some finasteride so I'm just going to keep it incase I do show more aggressive signs. Thanks for the reply.
