I get them at GNC 1000mg 90 tablets for $19.99 a bit steep. I want to start taking three because I like the effects. My stamina and dong are better than ever. Yesterday I shot a load like nobodys business- I thought I was peeing. GNC also has 1500mg which I migh switch to. I have heard 3g is optimal and the does clinical studies were done on. I also might switch to AKG (Arginine Alpha ketagluterate) a much better form that releases much nitric oxide.

One site posted some cautions. Just figured I would post it in case it pertains to anybody.

Caution:
- Diabetics and borderline diabetics should use growth hormone releasers with care. L-arginine and L-ornithine might improve or worsen a diabetic condition.

- Persons who have not completed their bone growth (children and teenagers) and pregnant or lactating Women should not use GH releasers except under a physician’s supervision.

- L-arginine and L-ornithine sometimes reactivate latent herpes virus infections. Therefore, persons who have had ocular or brain herpes should not use them.

- Those with certain psychoses may experience worsened symptoms if they take L-arginine or L-ornithine supplements.

- Always take antioxidants with arginine.

- Higher amounts can be taken if recommended by a knowledgeable healthcare provider.

.........I'm curious, Does anybody know why you need to take antioxidants with arginine?.............

It's also good using folic acid.

Folic acid assists a critical co factor in the converting of arginine to nitric oxide (NO) to regenerate and increase its bioavailability.

This critical co factor is also a vital antioxidant and goes by the name of Tetrahydrobiopterin (or BH4).

BH4 scavenges a free radical called superoxide, keeping it under control, preventing it from doing damage

If BH4's bioavailability is reduced, superoxide levels increase and trouble begins.

Superoxide reacts with nitric oxide to form peroxynitrite, an especially nasty free radical.

Peroxynitrite oxidizes BH4 and reduces its bioavailability.

If this happens,

1) Superoxide will increase even more so that you have a cycle of events that continues until you fall ill or your hair falls out (if you are susceptible).

2) Nitric oxide production goes down (since BH4's bioavailability is reduced and it cannot assist in the converting of arginine to NO....or it does this less efficiently).

If not rectified, oxidative stress occurs (over production of superoxide....insufficient nitric oxide (NO) production).

Now, NO is essential for hair to grow.

Nitric oxide increases potassium channel activity ....which is the reason researchers at Upjohn (the makers of regaine - topical minoxidil) believe minoxidil works in helping to grow hair.

So to recap:

1) Folic acid supplementation leads to

2) Increased BH4 bioavailability, which leads to

3) Decreased superoxide production (and therefore less peroxynitrite formation) and

4) Increased efficiency where the converting of arginine to nitric oxide is concerned, resulting in

5) Increased nitric oxide production and therefore

6) Increased potassium channel activity, allowing for more

7) Hair

Bruce where is Oxhide's huge topic? Has it been deleted?

I am sorry but I don't know. I think gourmetstylewellness.com does periodic purges to keep the file size down. But suggest you send him a private message on this.

Good luck.

hey cesim, did you experience more shedding when you started using the Arginine topically? If so, how long did it last? Thanks - Ian

My hair is improving. The sides have become thicker. I have started using crinagen again. Just once in the morning. I have added 50mg zinc daily.

concerning l-arginine sexual healing, would it be reasonable to wonder about potential side effects of it?
I mean, if it affects your load etc.. it means sperm is produced in greater quantity for example. isn't it risky in the way it could affect the quality of your semen? I mean, are you sure your offspring won't look like nuclear attack survivors? ;p
I have no idea, Im just worried
because greater semen production to me sounds like, I donno, like it has to own all the "ingredients" needed or time needed to get mature..in order to be healthy..

thoughts uh?

anyone tried using topical arginine? any updates?
Ive tried it for about 3 weeks now, it does really dry your hair and scalp out, so i use it with olive oil, applied after its sunk in, some shampoos turn it into ammonia as well so you have to experiment with a shampoo, the guilty shampoo when applied immediatley reacts with it and you can smell the ammonia almost instantly (NH3)
please post on any progress anyone is having

arginine is just an amino acid, its not likely to have any mutant effect on your semem, its an a nonessential amino acid, used by the body for protein syntheses, and as a source of amonia, possible reason for loads being greater is that the prostate gland uses it to synthesis the proteins present in your juice, not sure why it cause bigger erections though, its either used in the biosynthesis of testosterone, or may play some part in the testosterone receptor sites sensitisation, this is all conjecture though

Attention Cesim...please update on your progress

Cesim,

You are the clear leader of using L-Argine topical. An update would be great...let us know your progress in detail. I would love to go on minoxidil but it cause to much water retention.
