Hi all,

Finally I was brave enough to cut my hair shorter than ever, just to see my hairloss. Actually now I think I should not have done. I am almost 2 years with treatments (Finas + minoxidil), because I felt less density in the crown and some hairloss in my temples, specially my left one. But now that I have really short, I can even see diffuse hairloss all over the top. Here some photos, just after the shower and with wet hair. Depending on the angle of the photo you can clearly see.

sorry for posting so much, but I am, really shocked after the haircut. I knew about temples, but again, I did not expect the diffuse thinning on top at all. Even in dry hair with flash you can see.

Sorry to all of you again.

Doesn't everyone's hair clumps when wet? and that is why scalp is visible when hair is wet. Also when hair is short, scalp is visible when light is directly on the head, I have even seen that on people with absolutely perfect hair.

thanks for your reply, i appreciate. So, wouldn't you say it looks thinning?

Dude my girlfriend, who has some of the thickest, curliest hair I've ever seen (her mom and brother are black and she inherited those genes) still has 'thin' spots when her hair clumps when wet. Wet hair is not at all the optimal way of looking at hair loss. And she has curls for days too, zero hair loss.

Wet hair clumps like the other poster said, plus its really short. My gfs hair is down to her shoulder blades and it still clumps!

When dry, just comb your hair to the front or sideways and if you are still able to see stripes of emptiness (i.e. visible scalp through stripes) then that is hair thinning. But that is evident only when your hair is like 25% thinned out of your original thickness (provided you did not have thin hair naturally). just try that and if you see stripes of scalp then it may be possible thinning. Or try this- When hair is dry, just hold a bunch of hair between your index finger and thumb and pull with little pressure, if some thin strands come out along with some fine thick strands then it may be early stages of thinning. Just do this from 5 different locations from top of your head (not the sides and back) and if you see thin hair at least 3 times then your hair might have started to thin out. That is because not all our hair thin out simultaneously and it is very less and not very evident in the beginning. But please see, the second trick I shared is one I found on the internet it might be complete bullshit. If you want to be 100% sure then getting checked by a dermatologist for thinning and miniaturization is the only option.
