Using minoxidil on temples only

My experience has been that minoxidil on the temples is more about maintenance than regrowth. I wouldn't expect to see any significant regrowth on the temples unless you are in that lucky 1-2% that seem to respond in that area.

My temples continued to receed while on finasteride so I decided to add foam once per day just on the temples. I had a nasty shed about 3 weeks in which thinned out the hair, but it all came back, and I don't think I've lost anymore ground on the temples since I've been on finasteride (just over a year now).
Just wanted to comment on that nice avatar... dimoxinil!!! haha.... that was a classic episode and that picture is perfect for this site.

minoxidil alone regrew visible amount of hair on my right temple, almost nothing on my left one. Adding finasteride seemed to boost the effect on my right temple, still nothing on my left one. That is strange, it seems my head responds better to the treatments on its right side, modestly, if at all, on its left side, but I guess I am bugged :).

Although it is explicitly written on the Kirkland minoxidil manual that it only works on the crown, you can never know until you see yourself what it does on your head. There is a high degree of variation in responses when we talk about fighting hairloss, so don't worry if you don't go "according to the plan".

Did you omit reading the previous post - I said it did regrow visible amount on my right temple, far less on my left one.

On my frontal area it did absolutely nothing, I might say it even did harm - my hairline receded, my hair got less strong and dense. But you can never tell if it is the drug or the natural way of balding...

Start minoxidil if you have balding on your crown, if I might suggest. If only your temples are the problem, at least from my own experience (NB - it is different with different people!), you won't get significant results.

Good luck!

i dont think you understand what way i was coming from. my temples arent a problem. im still nw1 basically. i have thinning in the centre of my hairline as i have female pattern. im only going to use a small bit along the hairline and some on temple points to tr sharpen them up. Im basically using the regime of a user here called inland who used some along his hairline which weasnt bad to start with and had great results along with using finasteride. i have confidence my hair will react well. i still have good head of hair and anywhere where is thin still has hairs there. Plus i have only been losing hair recently.

These are the exact areas my minoxidil had visible effect - those "triangles", which I call (maybe wrongly) just temples. My right tirangle shows quite an improvement - I almost had no triangle at all on my right temple a year ago, now I even have to shave it to decrease its size so that it isn't far bigger than the left triangle (which showed almost no progress, but it wasn't receded the first place). I hope this answers your question - minoxidil helped on triangles on at least one person around here - me ;).
