Using Nizoral every day

I started using finasteride about 2.5 years ago. Shortly after I start using nizoral shampoo about two times per week and regular shampoo on the other days.

The problem is, while I did get some results from finasteride and my losses seem to have stopped, by scalp is extremely dry. I'm thinking about using nizoral every day now.

Any reason I can't do that?

Thanks.

Yeah, I was worried about something like that. I did increase it to about 3-4 times per week and have noticed no problems.

Is there anything else I can do to combat dry scalp?

Thanks for any help.

Use less nizoral... it's quite harsh for the scalp.

Use less Nizoral. Dry scalp is ruining any benefits that Nizoral is giving you.

I use it 3-4 times a week and I don't get dry scalp. I love how my scalp feels. I wish I could use nizoral on my oily face, but I don't want a hairy face. The growth stimulant in nizoral is pretty strong.

I'm thinking of using nizoral every other day, and then having my experimental shampoo every other day rotated with it, and not buying any more piroctone olamine. My experimental shampoo is cheaper, and I think it will be stronger too. The piroctone olamine shampoo is probably very stable, so I can just use it up slowly on the few days that I shampoo twice in a day, or use it once a week.

For $1.12 at walmart, I get the lavendar/chamomile baby shampoo, equate brand. I add a tiny bit of arginine and alpha lipoic acid, 1% spironolactone, 1% licorice extract, 1/2 mL of lavendar essential oil, 1/2 mL of peppermint essential oil, 0.5% white curcumin, a little bit of apple poly and EGCG. I add some polysorbate 80, PG, and aloe vera to help mix it and increase absorption. It all dissolves in less than 1 minute. These ingredients are cheap and will last years, except for the spironolactone, which costs $7. I only use the spironolactone version on my head, and a non-spironolactone version on my body.

I was under the impression that Nizoral was used to help remove DHT on the scalp, and to help maintain good scalp health. Is there actually a growth stimulant in Nizoral? What is the active ingredient?

I have a pretty dry scalp naturally. I use nizoral every other day, sometimes followed by another shampoo. I use conditioner every day though.

What do you think about using ketoconazole cream or foam/mousse? Should be pretty good stuff, also judging from those impressive photos from the japanese study who applied the cream after shampooing.

You're stripping the hair by using it too much and probably doing MUCH more damage then good.
nizoral strips the hair? what ingredient in nizoral does that?

You would get some regrowth. I don't know if it would as strong as minoxidil or not, or if it would be worth the price.

the keto is the active ingredient. It is a mild androgen receptor blocker, and also a growth stimulant. I forget what study proved that. I actually am not sure if it is an AR blocker or 5ar inhibitor, but the study posted on here seemed conclusive it was a growth stimulant.

Using nizoral on your face will REDUCE (probably) any hair growth.
No, Micheal Barry tested it on one side of his face. Or one side of some body part. He was amazed at how much hair it grew. The growth stimulant is much stronger than the anti-androgen effect.

If more is not better, then why do people using topical Keto use it every day? They used it every day in that study, right? Anyone want to dig up the study on topical keto? I thought they used it every day, but I could be wrong. If keto is almost as good every 3rd day as every day, it is the only topical like this.

And who says it eats your hair? I heard the 2% can be hard on the scalp, but the 1% feels great on mine. And if you succeed at getting enough absorbed to affect your liver, I'd be amazed. I doubt most people get enough. That is why some use the topical instead of the shampoo. I just don't feel like dishing out $15 for the topical.
