Vellus hair question...

Does anyone know what the cycle length of a vellus hair is?

think it's 1-2cm or something. It depends on whether if it's the first, second or third cycle of velus hair, after the terminal hair fell out. It gets' smaller after every cycle.

you're thinking negatively Noorur, it cycles a few times and then gets BIGGER after every cycle (depending on if you're on the big 3). If you are not taking medications, then Noorur is right.

Thanks. I've recently noticed velus hairs on my scalp (when i spread my hair apart, there they are ... just sitting there) ... but too bad i never did a check like that before, cause now i dont know if they've always been there, or if this is my hair dieing, or if this is new hair growing. And to be honest with you guys, i never in my life really went through a shed, never noticed more then 5 hairs fall out of my head in one day. I know more do ... but its never been noticeable. So my first guess is that this is new hair growing in. I've been on the big three for about 2 months now, and im just wondering how many cycles it usually takes for a vellus hair to grow terminal, and usually how long (in time, not length) a vellus hair cycle is.

while we're in the topic, how long is a typical vellus hair anyway and are they pigmented? I've got a alot of tiny hairs growing on my hairline (where there was nothing before) after 5 weeks of minoxidil and that are 1-2 mm long and , clearly pigmented black, but they're stll thin. Don't know what to make of them really... :roll:

i seem to be losing vellus hair from my sideburns and nape of my neck. right at the corner, everytime i pull i end up with 4-5 hair, and out of that 2 will be extremely thin.

just gotta give it time. Provided you are consistent daily with your finasteride nad minoxidil, they more than likely will go terminal. It's been the case with me anyway. Always hard to give an actual time frame. 4 or 5 months after first noticing the vellus sounds about right, before it goes terminal.
