So I was at the gym doing my legs, and I hear an add come over the radio. I makes me pause immediately(interrupting my set). It starts talking about how bad male pattern baldness sucks, like I don't know lol.

Any way long story short some company called vertex is conducting a clinical trial accepting members I guess in San Diego, since i'm here. I tried to look it up but I only get a company researching cystic fibrosis.

Something to look into maybe.

Sooo...thats all I got. Been about a year since Ive been on, I deployed for 8 months and I dont come around often, Brotzu huh.. hope that works out. Im still maintaining on the big 3 if you are curious.

See you guys next year, unless Brotzu cures us all haha.

Amazing, the level of marketing incompetence some companies have by not even reaching out to online communities like ours.

Useless saps.

Might be this one: http://www.vertexhairgrowthstudy.com/about.html

But the website looks somehow amateurish. No Information about the actual drug: "...an investigational, oral drug for male pattern baldness."

Did some digging. The owner of the domain is Chris Trizna, president of CSSi LifeSciences. Found this on his twitter account:
Kythera.png

Kythera was acquired by Allergan last year. The company is currently recruiting participants for their trials on setpiprant (PGD2 antagonist) and bimatoprost (PGF2 analogue) in men with androgenetic alopecia.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02781311?term=allergan+hair&rank=3
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02676310?term=allergan+hair&rank=18

It seems very likely that that the site is recruiting participants for either of those trials.

Edit: It's an oral drug as already mentioned. So it's probably setpiprant.

LOL - why would they? Most of the "regulars" on the forums are off their rocker, and would probably make horrible candidates. Further, the trial particulars are suppose to remain secret, which wouldn't happen on the forums.

Because it's direct exposure to prospective consumers.

Hairloss forums would be one of the worst places to recruit. When you're conducting a hairloss study, you want the average consumer, not someone already on the Big 3. Besides, how many of you are going to voluntarily get off all of your hairloss treatments for the chance to be taking a placebo pill for 6 months?

That's the issue with clinical trials. The participants don't know what they're getting, and they want people that aren't already on medication. Even if some of their participants agree to get off finasteride, if they lose massive amounts of hair is it because of the post-finasteride shed, or the hair loss medication, or something else? That's the dilemma with recruiting members most likely already on drugs. You want someone who has done nothing so far for more stable results, not someone coming off medication to potentially skew the results.

That's why studies usually advertise on the radio, because they want the regular Joe on no medication to test.

yup, this makes sense. they are recruiting in my area as well. trial 1,000mg (1g) of seti orally. I know most people on here are skeptical of seti, but I hope this high of dosage orally holds at least some promise. I still believe in it. ;) of course do take this amount on our own, it would cost about $400/month.

Yes, you are right. It's the Phase 2A of Seti. The "More Information" link on https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02781311 points to http://www.vertexhairgrowthstudy.com/

@buckthorn: Are you on any treatment? If not, why not try and get in the trial. If you are lucky, you will get the real stuff.
