If there were a high correlation and possible causation - between temperature and hair growth - it would be appropriately documented at this point. All the obvious and elementary causes were likely explored tens of years ahead of what's considered modern medicine. We know that cancer patients with scalp cooling experience less hair loss! So perhaps there's a secondary role and exacerbation of the existing genetic predisposition.

Perhaps the vertex happens to be both warmer and experience pattern hair loss without any correlation. Could also be that causation acting in the reverse of what's assumed by OP: hair loss causing localized temperatures to increase. Maybe there is follicular heat dissipation (is that a thing? like a radiator) that is inhibited and causes high temperatures.

In the end the fact that a hair transplant "takes" in the vertex is proof enough that while potentially there's a correlation temperature alone is not a primary cause.

Since the production of DHT is an enzimatic reaction and enzimatic reactions are in many cases temperature dependent I guess that, to some extent there could be a relation. I would be a cheap and interesting experiment to measure the scalp DHT before and after exposing the skin to low temperatures for a prolonged period of time.

Yeah I think you can read into things too much sometimes, it's probably just inflammation. I remember when I first started losing my hair I was working in a greenhouse, and at the time I swore the dense heat might have had something to do with kick starting my balding process. That was a few years ago now, but I recently saw a couple of the lads that I used to work with (all in our early 20s) after a couple of years and they're both noticeably losing their hair also.

Ok, i'll be the first one to admit this is strange, however, i'm just going to say it. I have aggressive hairloss on my vertex/crown area. Placing my hand on my vertex I can feel substantial increase in temperature - this is not placebo, it is factual. Every other area of my scalp feels significantly cooler than my vertex.

Is this related or simply a coincidence?
Does anyone else feel the same thing i do when placing your hand on your vertex?

Inflammation comes classically with three Latin words to describe it:

- tumor (swelling)
- calor (heat)
- dolor (pain)

TBH I never had pain or swelling but heat is totally possible
