There's ton of stuff that is good for hair such as vitamins, minerals, collagen, probiotics, etc. It doesn't mean you'll regrow any hair which was lost through male pattern baldness. It's quite safe to assume at this point that castor oil applied topically on its own won't regrow much hair, if any at all. And that's based on more than two decades of experience from people using castor oil for this purpose. Maybe if the manner it's applied on changes, it could turn out to be an effective treatment. Anyways, peppermint oil atleast has a scientific study behind it, although done on mice, where it works more effectively than Minoxidil.

Again, you don't know what you're talking about. The only reason castor oil won't work on its own (topically) is bc it's 933 Daltons. Thus why it's mixed with DMSO or taken orally. PGE2 has been scientifically shown to be lacking in balding scalp and a number of PGE2 analogues and agonists have been researched and shown to help regrow lost hair.

Meanwhile you're leaning on a mouse study for peppermint oil--which has actually been proven to reduce PGE2...

You cant compare castor oil to vitamins. Forget castor oil. Its PGE2. And a pretty potent PGE2 agonist on top of that too. And i dont think there is anything in this world thats more effective in growing hair than PGE2. And the only reason we cant use castor oil to its fullest potential is because its extremely hard for the skin to absorp it. Impossible actually, without penetration enhancers and the fact that it might have a very low halph life.

I say it again, castor oil would be better and strong than minoxidil if we could use it efficiently. We cant. It sucks the way it is, and it still made hair grow on my completely bald temples even though i only used it sporadically.
Heres a picture of my bald temples like 2 years ago when i used castor oil regligiously for like 3-4 months. Those are thick, dark hairs sprouting out of my otherwise completely bald temples.
This was literally just needling + castor oil. Nothing else.
Again, forget castor oil. Just forget it. Its PGE2.

I know about PGD2 and PGE2. There's been a craze about that. It just never turned out to be what some expected. And castor oil for topical use has been around for far longer than when that submerged.

You're basically just confirming everything I just said. Castor oil doesn't work, atleast not the way it has been used for the past 2 decades where we have it's use documented. If a more effective method is discovered for it to raise PGE2, then we could possibly see that to change.

I just see the after-photo from what you attached. If your regimen did what you claim, it's not impressive at all compared to what others have achieved on this thread alone. Even though you acknowledge the fact that castor oil is next to useless the way it's used, you swear by it. So, why would you then stop at a measly 3-4 months? Castor oil isn't expensive and definitely not so in comparison to conventional drugs.

No prostaglandin-related treatments have made it to market yet for alopecia so who is to know if they'll turn out to be anything or not. That also doesn't change the fact that PGE2 has been proven to help regain lost hair and that castor oil is a known agonist.

You're just arguing to try and be right at this point. You're the one that said there is absolutely no scientific evidence that castor oil works and you've since been disproven. Give it up and go read more than a couple mouse studies before making absolutist posts as though you're some kind of an authority.

Yes, and by that I meant that there have been no studies with castor oil being used topically on humans. However, there's evidence for the PGD2 and PGE2 claims. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3982925/)

Great post. How frequently (and how were you) applying castor oil when that picture was taken? Btw, if you had just added in some sulfasalazine and sunburns you'd have been doing the exact same protocol that swiss grew his temples back with. You can see you were starting to get results, if those tiny hairs were new.

There have been TWO people on public forums that have followed the PG protocol the way it was written without cutting corners--swiss and westonci. Both got results that blew all other treatments out of the water. That's 2/2. Lots of lazy people have tried seti in isolation, or needling in isolation, or PGE2 angles in isolation, and lo and behold got no results. The ONLY people who actually did the full routine got the results. Just saying.

Westonci didn't really get good results. Certainly not anything that he couldn't have gotten with just minoxidil and dermarolling. DHT inhibition is superior to PGD2 inhibitors
Agreed, he could have gotten quicker or better results with trad treatments. But it doesn't take away from the science behind those angles that he showed to work also IRL.

Collecting and maintaining a routine for everything was a major problem. While the regrowth on his temples was really good, he was far from regrowing them fully. That's the take from looking at the pictures uploaded on his discontinued blog post.

Where has its use been documented? My understanding is that there are no studies about use of castor oil in hair loss.

Castor oil doesnt anything. Oral or topical.

I’ve just incorporated castor oil in my microneedling routine, mixed with peppermint oil and coconut oil and applying it about 30min after a session, it’s very early to see if it’s helping with new hair growth but after only 5-days of use my naturally “frizzy” hair seems to have softened a bit and looking better and seems to be growing slightly faster than normal. Since I’ve stopped minoxidil a month ago I’m hoping this helps maintain my microneedling gains or better them. Time will tell.

I, too have noticed that fine hair grown on my temple peaks from microneedling has now thickened up and gotten darker and stronger since I’ve started with Coconut + Castor + peppermint oil mix after microneedling. I’ll try and take a photo to post later on.

No scientific studies. But it's use has been documented and you can check it for yourself. Search for "castor oil" and "hair" on your search engine and make it filter so you get results for 1999 and 2000, just as an example. Interestingly, among the first hits, a patent for hair regrowth is found. It includes castor oil and a lemon extract (fresh lemon peel), being the main ingredients. Limonene is found in citrus peels and is frequently being used to increase absorbtion of oils. (https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/d-limonene). Some claims of power mentioned about the patent's formula:

"One client had three completely bald sections on her head for eleven years. She used the hair growth formula described above only three times a week. After seven months the right and left sides of her head had completely filled and the top was slowly filling also.

Another client using the formulation had 50 new hairs grow in a 2 square inch radius. This client had been bald for over ten years.

Yet another client using the formulation, who has thinning hair, has grown 38 new hairs in a 2-inch square section."

It will be interesting to follow your progress. Are you using a dermaroller? What needle length are you using and how hard is the pressure? How often are you needling and how long are the sessions, or how many passes and directions over the same area? What's the concentration of coconut, castor and peppermint oil in your mixture? Besides this, is it just biotin and Nizoral shampoo in your regimen worth mentioning?

Why coconut oil?

b8 at this point

"If your regimen did what you claim, it's not impressive at all"
-Growing thick dark pigmented hairs on a slick bald temple is not impressive. Alright buddy, i give up

Its not useless. Its just not as good as it potentially could be. Castor oil is an annoying mess to use and it intereferes with other topicals.
If you use it religiously as a topical and oral, its doing alot more given its safety profile and its price. Anyways, im tired of trying to convince anyone in this thread. This was my last post regarding castor oil

Those temples were as bald as my forehead. I cant even remember the last time i had hair there. It seems like they were always bald.
There is no way for me to get my hands on sulfasalizine. I was thinking about doing UVB sunburns but the guy never explained what the f*** he is doing. Is he literally putting a UVB lamp on his skin? And thats able to burn it in mere 5 minutes? What kind of lamp was it?
I would use it if i knew how

I used the castor oil with rosemary and pumpkin seed oil. I just applied a generous amount at night and washed it out the next morning.
