Despite the fact that 50-60% of the men in their age group are bald, the NFL coaching fraternity is deficient in bald coaching candidates. Why? Because of the huge prejudice against bald men. They are not respected or seen as leaders.

But the vikings have stepped up to the plate and hired Brad Childress, who, as can be seen in the following article, it completly bald.

What are you talking about? Mike Tice the guy before him was bald, Tony Dungy is completely bald and he is probably coach of the year.

Dude, I'm sorry but your statement is a huge load of crap.

I'm the manager of one of my company's business units covering the entire western US. I have hairloss.

My company, a $15 Billion/year operation, just appointed a new CEO who is slick as an 8-ball.

Stop spreading this "huge prejudice against bald men" BS. If you choose to believe it, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Work hard and you earn reward, regardless of hair. It is simply not an issue except to those who cave to it in sustained weakness. This is in work, play, and everything in between. Use it as an excuse if you wish, but it's a lame one.

Well said.
My father has an extremely lucrative job (too bad I don't get any of his money!) and he's got dramatic diffuse thinning, even though he's not slick.

Still, he works hard and maintains a second-in-charge position in an entertainment company.

Is Dennis Green still coaching in the NFL? I believe he was bald.

So is NBA coach Byron Scott. And on the topic of basketball, so is Michael Jordan.

And, one of the most kickass coaches in recent NCAA history, Jerry Tarkanian, was completely bald too.

First of all, some of the guys you mention are not bald. Dennis Green? That guy has the best hairline on the planet!

Dungy and Tice are not bald, they have about 30-50% of their hair left.

Still if even that number constitute the number of bald coaches among 32 teams, its a ridiculous percentile considering its mostly 50 and 60 year old men.

If you cant see that you dont understand numbers. 3/32 is <10%, average amount of bald men is usually similar to age group, so 50-60% of men their age should be bald. Think thats a coincidence?

My Dad was the vice pres. of a MAJOR defense company and he said he had only 1 bald collegue ( my dad has a full head of hair ). And only 1 guy that was less than 6 foot tall.

Im not saying to give up on your career, but it is clearly an item that people are prejudicial against. Us balding men will have to truly earn our keep in this world, as opposed to having it handed to us.

Im sure you can find _SOME_ coaches that are bald, but they are clearly an under-represented minority in the coaching ranks. I would expect that they would be amoung the best, however because they earned their job.

Football and balding..what an interesting topic..lol Anyway just wanted to chime in.

I'm from philly and am not really worried about Childress being gone, looks like Andy Reid calls most of the offensive plays anyway.

BTW. Andy Reid is a diffuse thinner with a hairline that is in pretty bad shape. Going thinner and further back every year.

I've never understood hopping on treatments when you're slick bald, you're never gonna get a useful amount of hair back anyway. That first picture there where he has a tiny bit on top left reminded me of the people who do this. Unless you're cool going from completely bald to noticably and almost utterly completely and hopelessly bald + some whispy hairs.
