I openly admit to being overly protective about Propecia because I'm on it.

I ignored warning signs in denial to keep hair, as I'm sure many do.

Lets be honest, Propecia causes some degree of damage to the sexual health of anyone who takes it, watery semen and common ball ache is the dead giveaway here.

I posted this on BTT, here's the truth about me on Propecia.

Hey all, been on Propecia about 6 months with pretty great results and very minor sides, or so I thought...

I was diagnosed with epididymitis after several bouts of testicle pain.

Prior to finasteride I've never had testicle pain in my life, also feels like my ejaculatory tube is blocked.

My urologist says he thinks finasteride caused retrograde ejaculation, causing this epididymitis. He told me that he believes finasteride is pretty risky business and that most doctors don't realize the damage it can cause in younger men.

Prior to this appointment I was pro finasteride, but my wife told me I've had lowered excitement overall, less zest for life, watery semen and less urges for her since being on it, things I didn't really notice myself since I guess I forgot how I felt off it and it came on gradually.

I really hate hair loss but my wife said she would way rather have me slowly lose hair on minoxidil than be this way, I have to agree.

Going to give up the Propecia for one month and see how I feel off of it, I'll be taking notes of changes with her.

Here's hoping I'm not one of the unlucky ones who get PFS coming off lol...

New ****ing treatments please.

Ps to Vincent, go ahead and blast me for the bull**** I was posting, I deserve it. But I owe it to others to post the truth about my experience with this drug, not the lie I told myself to keep my hair.

I've never heard about retrograde ejaculation before.

Urologist said both flomax and finasteride can cause it.

Does it cause permanent damage?

I've had intermittent, moderate ED for nearly 10 years now, started when I was 23. No doctor has ever been able to find anything wrong. They just tell me to lose weight and/or get on antidepressants. I'm trying nofap now (or was, until finasteride messed up my sleep), but I keep wondering if something is wrong with me physically.

Edit: Why don't you try RU58851?

I don't have answers for you since nobody seems to know much about most health conditions in general and when they don't they just toss an antibiotic at you.

Starting to see the medical field as what it really is lately.

Did you start an SSRI or Propecia at 23?

Also so some men do just naturally are susceptible to ED unfortunately, pretty common.

As for me, they gave me doxycycline for my epididymitis. The pain came back 3 weeks later, just went to gp, told him about my epididymitis and that my urologist gave me doxycycline. He basically threw his hands up and gave me cipro after my urine test was negative. I'm not taking the cipro 3 weeks after taking doxycycline, ****ing doctors are out of their minds.

Btw I'm 27 and prostate problems like this are extremely rare at 27 and I have no family history. What I do have is a history of Propecia which affects the prostate, I highly doubt it's a coincidence and so do both my uro and my gp.

About RU. Seems a hassle to mix, expensive and no studies prove its efficacy that I have seen.

ill prob just do minoxidil and when it gets bad I'll buzz it down, then I'll either get hair transplants or hair system.

Just to add, I'd rather have my wife leave me and be single then feel like **** all the time. Although she says I have a very nice face and I'll look fine, already buzzed to a 1 to try it and she said she's still plenty attracted to me.

Even if she did leave over that I'd rather be single and bald than in pain or stressed over hair all day on this stupid forum.
At least then I can enjoy sports and hookers with a full libido bald and be somewhat happy. I thought marriage was everything until I got it but there is more to happiness than women.

No, the SSRI came some time later. Propecia only started a few weeks later. I'm single so I don't want to go bald.

I was gaining weight and masturbating heavily at the time, those may be related.

I agree about RU looking complicated. There's a link to Hellouser's methodology that you can find on some other website, it involves like twenty-five different parts and you have to weigh it every three days and keep it in the freezer. Hassle. I believe it's effective though, but I don't want it to take over my life.

Do you smoke? Do you lack exercise? Both of those have been proven to significantly affect libido.

I don't smoke, I exercise a lot, I only drink very little alcohol, my blood tests so have all yielded vanilla, mundane profiles. I might be consuming sugar and wheat excessively.

Rhinestone do you think you'll be trying the topical finasteride formulations coming out?

I doubt it man, if it works that means it's going systemic and lowering serum DHT levels. I think I'm done messing with hormones and I just hope I can recover from the damage I've already done.

We need a new treatment that doesn't attempt to bring DHT to near castration levels. Or at the very least one that targets only DHT. AR2 synthesizes many things we probably want to keep having made.

Thank you for your honesty. As a young man, i feel like finasteride is off the limits unless you value your hair more than anything. Maybe someday in the future there will be topical finasteride that doesnt go systemic, this is my only hope currently.

I think most everyone who takes it would notice at least a slight sexual function or prostate change if they took notes beforehand. The changes happen gradually so you don't really notice unless others tell you like my wife did, or until you get off it.

There is no way a drug that blocks that much DHT and other chemicals due to 5ar2 inhibition has 0 sides at all in anyone. They simple don't notice them, tolerate them, or are in denial like I was.

Reporting of side effects was also found to be moderate quality at best and abysmal on average during trials of finasteride.

Propecia reminds me of back when people defended Prozac citing that sexual sides in trials were like 2%. Well now we know sexual sides from SSRIs are near 60%. Wont be surprised to hear around 90% are affected to some degree when we learn more about 5AR inhibitors.

I wonder if it were ever possible to get anti-DHT injections, under the skin on the head.

Sore, probably but I'd take that over systematic trauma.
