well, ive been trying to stop minoxidil for the past few weeks, used to apply it only twice everyday and then once everyday, i realised that minoxidil did nothing for me but ruin my hairline since day 1 and have only been applying it twice a week and because of this i think im going through a shed because my temple point has seriously thinned out, how can i taper off this? ive been using it for more than 6 months and havent gotten anything from it, im also using propecia, revivogen, and nizoral shampoo, cheers

just thought id add, i noticed hairloss more than a year ago at a time when i wasnt eating well at all, since then my crown and mid scalp are the same, so are my temples and my front hairline, the only change is really my right temple point, and some areas of my hairline where i applied the minoxidil, thanks

look dude. i know youre going through a worrisome time, but youre asking the same questions over and over. for the record, no i dont think minoxidil caused you to lose your hair. you were probably going to lose those hairs anyway.

there's no tapering off from this. you have to make either one of two decisions:

1. stop using it right this moment and look to another treatment
2. use it for another 6 months

there's not much more to say than that. i mean, it'll just be a lot of speculation and whatnot. there are no clean-cut answers. just go forth, be as optimistic as you can, and don't regret the decision you've made.

thanks, yeah i am going through a troublesome time, but no, i am sure minoxidil caused me to lose hair, because i saw my hairline dissapear 2 weeks exactly after applying it, and it still hasnt grown back, and this was more than 6 months ago, i dont think its a coincidence i just lost my hairline when the shed was expected to happen, i want to stop it, do u think i should continue using it once or twice a week for the next few weeks so i wont have a horrible shed? i mean if my hair hasnt grow back from the shed after all this time maybe its not working for me.

again, youre asking the same question even after i've provided an answer for you. my recommendation is to try another 6 months. if nothing happens, then stop it. OR you can stop it right now if you want; it wouldn't be a dumb move per se, seeing as how you have reason to stop

i dont think the medications cause you to lose your hair permanently. they speed up the process, make your hair shed, and get you ready for new growth. but sometimes your male pattern baldness is aggressive and you simply can't grow new hair. so yeah, the meds caused you to shed your hair, but you were going to shed that hair sooner or later anyway. and its not the meds fault that you cant regrow the hair. see what i mean?

now pick a path and stick with it. no point in posting the same question 10 times on this board. you're not going to get the answer you want

yeah i see what u mean, but considering that all my male relatives were norwood 1 or 2 mid thirties, fourties, (dad, uncles, half brothers, grandfather, cousins,) apart from my grandad on my mums side who was norwood 2 or 3 mid thirties who had diabetes and lost his hair later on, i dont think its " the aggresive hairloss". thanks for the advice, i think ill just stop it, and hopefully things will get better, cheers

genes are like that. My dad is 50 and is a nw2. my bro isn't balding either. I used minoxidil for 6 months and saw nothing from it. I decided to stop it. I'm a week away from it being 3 months since I stopped using it and havn't regretted it yet.

I hit a brutal shed after about 3 months of quitting minoxidil. It was maybe even almost 4 months but the shed arrived alrite

Im back on it now and ive recovered fully but the shed was shocking didn't think it was possible til it happend!!

I only apply at night, not exactly a huge burden

I think going off it progressively is a smart idea if you think its no good for you

but if I recall you were on it for a while right? I was on it for 6 months so I don't think I became dependent on it. do you have any current pics?

yeah, i was on it for more than 6 months, i then put it on once a day, i know everyone says rogain doesnt ruin ur hairline but i have seen so many people saying it ruined their hairline and i have to agree, the first time i applied it i lost some of my hairline, it was greasy, gave me headaches, hard to put on, and lost hair to it, i dont want to continue it, and plus, the hair i lost didnt grow back, everytime my hairline got fucked up minoxidil was involved,
