If your dad was bald did you become bald at same age, later or earlier?
I think i started to bald at an earlier age than my dad
4 of my friends became bald far earlier than their Dads. One was proper slaphead bald before his 30s - even though his dad was never that bald.
Another was bald -yet his dad in his 70s still had a full head of thick hair
I guess those 2 examples are rare ?
Are there any general "rules of thumb" on hereditary baldness?

no such thing as nw0 only nw1.

My father is nw1 also. My maternal grandfather is also nw1. Has the best head of hair on anyone I have ever seen. Perfect square hair line, straight hair

I do not see any diagrams that list nw0. nw1 is the lowest norwood listed on all of them. I think nw0 is just something made up by people on the internet

My dad is a nw7. I probably started balding before he did. I always thought I got my hair loss from him, but my pattern actually matches my great grand dad from my moms side.

Although my dad is a nw7, his dad kept 90% of his hair into his 90's.

The only person in my family tree that never lost any hair was my mom's paternal grandfather. Literally every other man in the family has a decent amount of hair loss. My dad didn't lose his hair until his very late 40's, he's 55 now. I went to a family reunion one year ago with people from both sides. My cousin, 22, Norwood 5. Both grandfathers, norwood 7. Every uncle over 45 was at least Norwood 3v or worse. I think that was the day that made me realize I should keep an eye on my hair. It's a scary thing to get a glimpse at your future, but I decided not to accept my fate after I noticed thinning. I'm hoping the big 3 payoff for me now and in the future.

My dad was about NW2-2.5 until about 40, now he just has an island connected by a spit to the vertex region at 48. I stated thinning quite a lot at 26-27 so my dad defonotely got a better deal than me. My maternal grandfather started balding properly in his mid 20s, was quite bald by 30.

How old are you goldenmane and when did you start balding?
My dad is a nw6, starting balding in his 20's maybe earlier because I have no pictures of him.
He have known him to be a nw5-6 all my life, he gradually has lost hair, throughout his life.

No the most aggressive balding so I think I'm pretty similar to my dad, its annoying because I cant actually tell if I'm balding, one because my hair is naturally thin and because my hair loss is so gradual. I know if I did get onto propecia i would probably keep my hair for the rest of my life, because of how weak how my male pattern baldness is. But not too fond of having a weaker dick.

My father was at best a Nw2-3 at age 85. His father showed no problems with his hair either. Looks like dear mom might be to blame. Happy Mother's Day to me.

I'm 27, almost 28. I don't know when I started, but it became noticable to me somewhere around early age 27. I think between 25 and 27 is when most of the damage was done. finasteride doesn't do a damn thing to most men's willies, mine is fine. Not trying it because a vocal minority experience sides that would subside if you quit makes no sense whatsoever. If you get a "weak dick" then just quit finasteride. It's unlikely though.

My paternal grandfather had all the luck though, NW1.5 at 88, smoked all his life and healthier than most men half his age.

I was talking about having a weaker erection, I should finally setup up a ****ing bank account tomorrow and order me some propecia, hell I'm going to at-least try the stuff.
I'm pretty sure our family has really high sensitivity to DHT, but low DHT levels.
But i could be talking bro-science
