Jaygee, that was a wise post, thank you.

I remember many laughed about Reagan because he was an actor and asked why John Wayne wasn't secretary of defense. I think that's not fair. But there comes another actor to mind - an austrian export - called the gouvernator...
I've never heard of him since he has been elected. What is he doing?

At least he's at peace now.

BTW, that's a very nice picture of him! Do I detect a family resemblance??

Are you hitting on me Bryan? Trying to say im Cute? :sulkoff:

Gardener and others, thank you for the words. Yes ... I'd say it was one of the most disturbing things I will ever see. Apparently some deathbed scenes are peaceful and somewhat uneventful. Ronald Reagan's for example. This one was nearly the opposite. The gutteral noises (death rattle) and looking like the CryptKeeper ... the eyes bloodshot and wide open, fixed upwards towards the ceiling - literally not blinking for hours, mouth hanging open ... etc ... Felt like I was staring death in the face, literally.

Pray that you never have to hear what is commonly referred to as the "Death Rattle". Its the most unpleasant sound I've ever heard.

But yes, it was my role to be by his side. He gave me life, and he was there when I was born. Its the right thing that I am there when he dies. I held his hand for a couple hours and prayed for him profusely and silently. More than a couple times he came out of the stupor and informed us that there were others in the room, waiting for him to pass over. Kind of disconcerting, but also kind of cool. He also heard other people in the other rooms of the house. He mistakenly asked his wife if her shift was over soon, confusing her for the other "being" who he'd seen waiting for him, in the room.

You really come to terms with what you believe in circumstances like this.

There is no doubt deficiencies in alternative fuel sources. My main point was dependency on oil. But, I am interested in the physics of energy.

Because there is no natural source of free hydrogen

What do you me by "free"? Can be confusing in the context of Free Energy.

Bryan said:
hydrogen is not a SOURCE of energy

Hydrogen has mass; therefore, it has energy - E=MC^2 :p :D
just kidding.

Bryan said:
Hydrogen is a way to STORE energy once you actually do have a source, but it's not a source of energy itself.

What about Fuel Cells? The right metal alloy can make Hydrogen from water. Still needs work. Crude oil goes through a process too that took time and research to develop.

Where does the hydrogen comes from? It has to be extracted by electrolysis which consumes a lot of energy.

Sorry about the post the site added it to the wrong topic somehow. Now that I have had a look at bismarck's post I have to say that free energy has been here for a while now .

There was to much money to be made by oil to be replaced by free energy devices (which have been around since Tesla)and the post above is sooooooooooooooo correct in its entirety .

Let's put it a different way: there is no natural source of pure hydrogen.

Chujgcha said:

Not without using energy. What's the point of producing hydrogen, if it takes more energy to make the stuff than what you get when you burn it (or consume it in a fuel cell) later?

Chujgcha said:

Yeah, but crude oil is still a net SOURCE of energy. The energy it takes to process it into a more useable form (like gasoline) is LESS than the energy you get back when you burn it later.

Exactly. You spend more energy on electrolysis than what you get back later when you burn the hydrogen. As the wise man once said, "There's no free lunch."

And it's not as if the public are clamouring to drive electric vehicles, whether they're powered by fuel cells or with conventional batteries.

Converting our autos from gasoline to some other 'greener' energy source is the least of the problem. At least that is do-able, to some extent.

The larger problem is weaning our entire industrial base off of hydrocarbons. We use petroleum products for everything! Imagine a world without plastics.

Getting ourselves free of an oil dependence is a very ambitious proposition, far more complicated than just driving around in green cars.

AND, did you know that cow farts are a major source of greenhouse gases?

Maybe we ought to force cattle ranchers to hire people who walk around behind the cows with lighters and ignite the spewed gasses before they have a chance to disseminate into our atmosphere?

Well, no more plastic bottles or droppers for minoxidil for starters.

I agree with that but (there had to be a but) more than 60% of oil consumed in the US is used in vehicles (that's about 12 million barrels worth per day) so it's the most obvious place to start, especially as a gradual transfer to something like bio-diesel could be done without the need for huge Govt. subsidies.

How much does one liter of petrol cost at the gas station in the US ?

Well, if one gallon is 3.79 litres, and the average price of a gallon of gas in the states is $2.07 I believe, then a litre would be 55 cents.

Here in California, we have the highest fuel costs, currently running about $2.20 a gallon or so. Here, a litre of gas is 58 cents.

I hope I got the factor correct. When I joined this site, gourmetstylewellness.com promised me that there wouldn't be any math questions... oh well...
