Before I noticed that i was suffering from some crown loss, roughly april last year, i really didnt have a clue about hairloss, and credit to this forum, there is some great info available here.
Forgive me for my ignorance, but the following is all true, i consider myself a fairly intelligent guy, but looking back at what i knew about losing hair, i knew jack sh*t.
I wasnt aware there was any treatments for hair loss.
I thought that a balding spot on the crown, came from the exact crown point and spread a perfect bald patch, ie no miniturized or weak hairs in the general area, just a growing area of scalp.
I had no idea what miniturising hair was.
I never knew what diffuse thining was.. and probably never noticed anyone with it.
I thought lsoing your hair in all cases was a slow and steady gradual thing.
I could probably think of 5-10+ more misconceptions/unknown facts about hair loss that i really didnt have a clue about but now seem to have taken for granted that they are obvious.
Also, on a probably incouraging note, I cant recall noticing people balding, unless it was a severe case, full on dome top. Infact i can recall one guy, for example, who was in his 30's who i sat next to at college, who kept his head shaved really short, who cracked a couple of jokes about not having much hair on his head and to be honest i didnt even really notice he was receeded and had a big bald spot in the crown area.
Now, less than a year on seem to analize everybodys hair i come across, i check to see if they are balding/receading, guys who have really short buzz cuts i look to see if they are covering hair loss, people i went to school with i see more and more balding, some slowly, some quickly... its mad to think I (and probablly many others here), were completely ignorant to the whole thing before we noticed we were suffering hairloss.... which i suppose is encouraging?
Dunno, maybe this is probably an obvious/pointless post, but its wierd how we adjust to situations and analize everything to the point were we make ourselves miserable.
