Hey all. Maybe some of you know me, most probably don't. Anyway i started losing my hair when i was 16. Waited about 6 months before really starting treatment. I really hammered down with minoxidil, nizoral, and some herbal treatment that worked for some relatives for mine. After about 5 months of treatment, my hair was looking great. It was thick and healthy on the top, and my temples had been filling in nicely. But I became cocky about my newfound hair, and stopped treatment. I mean all of it, when school started. Well now im paying the price. My hair is thin and very unhealthy. All my regrown hair in my temples is gone, and my right temple is really high again, left temple isnt that bad but still it's up there. Where i was once a Norwood 1-1.5, im now a solid nw2 and getting worse. I've hammered down with treatment again, so hopefully ill respond as well as I did before.

Well I needed to get that out, the moral of my story is, even if you get great results, keep up your treatment because if you don't your hair WILL get worse again. I learned that the hard way.

One must remember once you re-grow with minoxidil you must use it for life. The up side is at a much lower dosage rate.

my herbal remedy isnt really herbal. It's this thing called istonix-opc 3. It's a powder of a bunch of different extracts from plants and seeds, the active one for hairloss being grape seed extract i believe.

i used minoxidil twice a day for 2 years.. i now use it once a day except for weekends where i use it twice. it's been easier on my scalp and the results actually seem better. i highly reccomend only applying it once after using it a year like dr. lee said

Hi Guys,
I've been reading your side of the forum for some time.... I'm currently trying Minoxidil 5%...for a week and a half now. I slacked off the 2% in August so now I'm trying to stick with it.
Anyways, I was reading Redbones comment on using minoxidil for life....and I laughed to myself...thinking of me as an old lady trying to put the darn stuff on my head... (I might give up by that time.. )....
Can you imagine how money the company who makes minoxidil is making?????? That was the first thing that popped in my head when I read we have to do it for life.....Holy Crap....its going to cost me a fortune to try and be a part of the 12%.......talk to you soon

I doubt anyone will literally have to use minoxidil for life. I'm sure in 20 years or so there will be better options. Hopefully HM??? Who knows?

Try not to think of minoxidil as a lifetime commitment - just think of it as a temporary thing until something better comes along.

Cheers.

There is no actual proof that antioxidants are beneficial in hair loss treatments. Just to let you know.

Really, why are people so hell bent to go herbal? Propecia won't hurt you... it's 1 milligram once a day of a totally benign chemical. You're probably doing yourself more harm by pounding 6 grams of berries and roots from all over the world and their chemicals reacting with one another. I'd much rather take a treatment that has been proven to be safe and effective over heresay any day of the week.

But that's just me I guess.

Well stingray i know Propecia probably won't hurt me, but im only 17 and I don't feel like taking somthing that may potentially mess up my hormones, especially my sex hormones. Besides my regimen is working fine for me. I'll probably be on propecia by the time im 20 though.
