Nothing to special he told me it was male pattern baldness, he said it could have started out with stress, than esculated to male pattern baldness as i am thinning all on top and on the temples and vertex. He gave me a prescription for propecia, I asked him about nizoral, he told me that I didn't need it becuase my scalp was in good condition. Should I take his word for it or should I just go out and get my some nizoral?
Thanks

Get some T-gel because that is what they used in the Propecia studies. Might as well thouroughly replicate the study. And also it helps out with the inflammation and itching many people experience due to hairloss.

Would just like to once again point out another misinformed statement by a physician. Hair loss doesn't start out with stress and transform/escalate into a genetic hormonal condition. Its a genetically predisposed hormonal condition from start to finish.

Once again, a misinformed undereducated doctor. Nizoral is not just beneficial for people who have poor scalp condition. It has antiandrogenic properties as well as growth stimulating properties, even if they are minimal. Sometimes the inflammation is not detectable, and using Nizoral will eliminate that as well.

Doctors continue to fail the basic knowledge test.

If you have male pattern baldness, by definition, this is inflammation involved. That is why the hair actually ceases to grow (under our current model of male pattern baldness).

So, even if you don' t have any overt signs of inflammation, such as dandruff and itching, it is prudent to use the gold standard shampoos, such as TGEL, nizoral, and the like.

Good luck

Second Derm Appt Today
I'm already preparing myself for getting zero answers. This time I'll actually be seeing one of the derms instead of the P.A. since she is on vacation. We'll see what happens. I've lost tons more hair since my last visit. Last time, I went wearing my hair out like normal and just Dermmatch. Now, my hairline is almost nonexistent....scalp is visible on the crown...and I'll have to go wearing a baseball cap...so depressing.

I think his derm meant stress triggered the gene. You can have the gene for male pattern baldness and not go bald until your 70. However stress can trigger the gene to "go off" earlier and I think that is what his derm meant.
