Looking back at pictures, I was 19 when it started. Didn't notice it until I was 20. Didn't treat until I was 23 (don't ask me why). Now at 23, I'm NW2 with front diffusing... and what will happen in the future, don't know but god help me.

I guess that is to say it isn't SUPER fast considering it's been going on for 4 years (some people go completely bald in that timeframe) so hopefully now that I've started taking finasteride I can put a dent in it.

it started at 17, and in the meantime i've lost about 50% of my hair (in the male pattern baldness affected area) - i'm 22 now
unfortunately, i've spent over 3 years in denial before i started treating it, and in that time i lost the most ground i'll never recover

Late 18

Practically 3 months before turning 19 I started shedding like crazy and lost my temples points, during this time I had medium length hair creating a fringe so I was unsure of any recession until I got a haircut at age 19. Now I'm slowly recesing, thinning slowly around my hairline as it gets worse and worse. By the way I'm twenty, 3 months until I turn 21.

I'm ****ed.

I started shedding like crazy at the age of 13, hundreds of hairs a day, when I counted them on my pillow in the morning there could be up to 100 hairs on it. I started having a seborrheic dermatitis at exactly the same time.

I'm now 25, nearly one year into treatment (finasteride, then dutasteride), and my hair is quite thin on top, I still have a NW1 hairline though. I'd say my hair has thinned quite slowly compared to the age I began losing it..

My male pattern baldness started when I was 16 years of age, when I was turning 17 in a couple of months. Then my male pattern baldness went into hyperdrive at age 21, that's when my scalp was getting super inflamed, itchy, and oily, along with massive hair fall. I probably could have saved nearly all my hair in the long term if I got on Dutasteride or Finasteride at age 18 if I knew about those treatments at the time, and I probably would have never needed to use Minoxidil. Nowadays I'm completely unhappy with my hair.

Noticed i had true hair loss last summer. I was 21 then, my hair dresser told me I had a mature hairline around 19 years old, dint think anything of it and now I'm nw2 diffusing... I was looking at highschool pics with friends yesterday and I was definately receding on the hairline at 16... im just soo happy in brushed it off till last year because my teen and young adult years were fkn awesome and they wouldn't have been if I was thinking about hairloss like now

Super thick hair at 21-22. First noticed (admitted) my balding at 27. Actually I'd day I noticed earlier (maybe 23-24 that my hair was getting thinner, but didn't think anything of it or was in denial. I always had a very high forehead so I just convinced myself that was normal when my hairline was receding. I didn't help that I had long hair and always wore it down so that even to me, my hairline was rarely visible.

By the time I started treatment (just turned 27) I had thinned a lot, you could see my scalp through my hair at points and everything felt super thin. My biggest regret was not realising/admitting sooner, but I had a lot of other things in my life that distracted me. I'm 29 now, I regained significant amount of hair, I can style it the way I like, more or less, but I have to cover my temples with bangs to look good. My hairline and temples are ****, technically NW2, but not that nice round NW2, rather a forelock wedge that sharply drops off to my temples, taking the outer edge of my hairline too. I'd even rather have that widow's peak. One month ago I started applying minoxidil twice a day rather than once. I'm hoping it will make some difference to my uneven hairline and bald temples, not expecting miracles though.

Considering trying 10-15% minoxidil too, see if that improves things

Same exact thing except I noticed at 21, started minoxidil at 22 1/2 (made hair loss 10x worse over 7 months) so I stopped and now I'm just over 23 1/2 and it just keeps getting worse. I keep trying to get finasteride from doctor but he wants to fix the lesions on my head first.

Early 20's. NW4 now at 28. Hat prisoner for life. Oh and NW3's when it started to get to me, when I could start seeing the outline of an island. NW2 I didn't even think I was balding.

I first became consciously aware of my hair thinning at age 26. However, thinking back, my hair was definitely not as thick as age 23 as it was at 17. At age 26 I had a NW2.5 hairline with considerable diffuse thinning over the top and crown of my head. I then started finasteride and later dutasteride. Now at nearly 29, I am a thick NW1.5 thanks to using 5ar inhibitors. I'd probably be at least a NW3 by now with severe thinning over the rest of my head if I had not treated my hair loss.

FWIW, one of my friends had a strongly receded hairline at age 15, and was a NW4-NW5 at 19 and a NW7 at 21. male pattern baldness really can strike this early for some unfortunate young men.

At 21 I had a noticebly thinned crown as well as hair had gotten thin on top. There was no denying it at this point and people started to make jokes about my crown. I researched treatments and jumped on finasteride immediately.

It honestly kind of snuck up on me. Looking back I can see it started thinning at age 20 but I was clueless about hairloss. No one warned me that thinning starts at a young age thought it was something that happened in your 40's.

I realize now and also confirmed by posts here that those destined to lose their hair it starts in early 20's and sometimes even younger. My regret is being so oblivious and not starting finasteride sooner.

Im pretty sure I started around 15-16 years old. I was a NW2 at 17.

Never caught on early enuff to see the initial stages

Kinda surprised it took me that long, but ever since then it was full blown norwood watching after that

I always remember being 19 and not wanting to comb my hair back like I did when I was younger because my hairline just looked weird to me. I would think, "why the heck don't I have a straight hairline?" Even the baldest men in my family didn't start balding til 30 so why should I worry especially when the rest of my hair is full? This was before my cousin starting balding at 15 so I went on thinking nothing of it for about 5 years.

That is until my mother looked at the top of my head while I was laying on the couch watching TV and she was on the phone with her friend that ultimately got the ball rolling on my balding paranoia. I overheard her say in her conversation in a joking manner to my grandma, "[regarding my older brother] I've got one son that just got dumped, and another son [meaning me] who's losing his hair." I literally got up, went to the bathroom, did the two mirror trick to see what she was talking about, and then I saw it. I did everything short of this in my very panicked state. My life was never the same after that.
