this is not a thread about general side effects of 5% minoxidil foam, but for PERMANENT only side effects of 5% minoxidil foam.
trying to figure out if there ARE any permanent ones.

to my understanding, minoxidil is a medication that lowers blood pressure that is given to people that suffer from high blood pressure.
when you apply it on your scalp (without letting it touch anywhere else) it is absorbed in the skin and enters the blood circulation and start working systematically (not like taking it orally but still systematically)
this causes symptoms related to low/poor blood circulation: dry skin, black around the eyes, puffy face due to water retention (also a symptom of low blood circulation), etc.
these symptoms (correct me if I'm wrong) will go away once you stop minoxidil because the newly higher blood circulation will reverse it.

I understand that minoxidil causes collagen synthesis reduction in the face and this causes wrinkles, for example under the eyes.
will these wrinkles go away when stopping minoxidil?

there is one more side effect that I read about: hair growth in other places besides the scalp.
as no one knows why minoxidil causes hair growth in the scalp , it hard to say why it grows on other parts while using minoxidil and will they away when you stop it.
what are those places anyway ? the face? the back? the family jewels ?

personally, I would to give minoxidil a shot and stop if I get side effects BUT if some of the side effects are permanent - than I can't use this approach

Topical minoxidil is only systematically absorbed if applied on a wet scalp or skin.

So how long after a shower is recomended to wait before applying minoxidil?
Some minoxidil brands got water as one of the ingredients, is that nough to cause systematically absorbtion?
Having water in the hair for a sec then tower dry just to make the minoxidil not noticable after applying, is that enough to make it sustematically absorb?

I use minoxidil after shower everyday and wet my hair in the morning to fasten the minoxidil drying in the morning, and had knee pain for the past weeks now.... Fear there might be a connection with the blood pressure :( Did a work related blood pressure test right before i started minoxidil and then it was at optimal numbers (120/80 i belive it was)

I've been using MInoxidil and Minoxidil "plus" topicals ( with Retina A, AA and now FOAM etc) since 1989 and no wrinkles. I'm 44. This talk of wrinkles this and it does that is nothing more than urban legend in my honest opinion. Show me how it does that and I will buy into it. There is a thing called the normal aging process and I think it has been deducted the world over in this case. :jackit:

Gizmo,

I am currently using Dualgen 5% with AA from Minoxidil max. I will finish this bottle but still looking for an alternative since the FDA's shutdown of this company as well as others. I may use the new Spectral DNC product or just take 5% and use it in conjunction with .025 tretinoin oil at night and continue with Rogaine foam in the AM.

See im not sure about the wrinkle issue.. ive been on 5% twice a day for a year and sometimes i use 1.25mL or 1.5mL to get full coverage and I swear there are wrinkles on my forehead that were not there a year ago. Same thing as to the wrinkles near the corners of my eyes. Idk if it caused these or if it accelerated the process but I have noticed some changes over the past year. Its nothing too noticeable I guess only to myself since the whole hairloss thing causes me to look in the mirror 100 times more ofter :dunno:

Just some physiology 101: Systemic absorption refers to reaching the blood stream. lol at systematically
