What Do You Think About This Guy's Theories/Statements?

The guy's name is Ernie, I'm referring to his statments in this 2 page thread on another hair loss forum. Don't worry he didn't write a lot: http://www.baldingforum.com/showthread.php?t=641

You can read what he wrote but this is what I got from it:

1. Inhibiting your facial and bodily hair growth (miniturizing them through the use of lasers etc.) will cause your thinning scalp hair to grow back.

2. Propecia and minoxidil actually causes more hair loss in the long run despite what the majority think.

3. Inhibiting your bodily and facial hair growth gets the nutrients flowing to the scalp follicles more, which is why it causes scalp regrowth.

4. Merck admitted that Propecia causes greater hair loss in the long run.

To be extremely honest, I laugh at statements 2 and 4. The first (which is like the third) is slightly believable because it reminds me of a young little boy with no bodily/facial hair and a full head of hair, but that's pretty much it.

By the way I'm Kinky Temples there. Forum is dead as sh*t though...lol...but it's cool.

This guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.

This is the danger of online forums. Take everything you read with a pinch of salt on these forums. Do your best to find reputable sources for your information. Then again even the likes of Dr.Rassman etc. aren't always correct. You're just going to have to make do with what is available.

Ernie is a well known nutcase on that website so I wouldn't take anything he says seriously. I think Bryan may have a few stories about him.

Why would the company selling propecia , a drug they created to fight hairloss , admit to it causing hair loss. Is it the companies goal to loose money in the log run?

Forget about Ernie and his theories. He's the Village Idiot of the hairloss community, and he'll never be able to understand the technical details of why we lose our hair. Some of us have wasted years on alt.baldspot trying to explain it to him, but he doesn't have the intellect to understand.

If this is true, of course they wouldn't admit it, it would damn their business. If this is true it will not be known until the long run, so the company survives because it provides good short-medium term results.

I am not saying this is true, I am just providing you with a possible reason.

Do I KNOW him?? Jesus Christ, I put up with the old coot for YEARS on alt.baldspot! :)

I even bothered to mail him copies of a medical journal study on hair loss, in a desperate attempt to teach him something about the science of male pattern baldness. But he just doesn't have the intellectual capacity to understand technical issues. It's a lost cause. All of us literally gave up posting there, because Ernie was spamming the group constantly with his nonsense.

Well..I'm just glad what he was saying isn't agreed upon. I'd feel pretty bad knowing what I've been doing for practically a year was doing the opposite of what I was aiming for. So glad I made this thread. :) finmin ftw!

Btw has anyone here talked about Ernie before? Made a topic about him? Just wondering.

Ernie has been around for years, feel sorry for anyone that listens to him. Dr Rassman said it right when he responded "Pseudo-science clap trap".

Is that Ernie in that link? Because I thought he was a youngster when I was talking to him. Anyway it seems now he's just arguing about how I debate. He does not really link anything. Yeah it's his theories all right.

I have noticed that people with hairloss at a young age tend to be the guys who allready have alot of facial hair and have alot of hair on thier arms etc. Also it seems like guys who have all thier hair at 40 aren't as hairy as the average male. Although this is just a thing i've noticed and probably isnt true.

I think what you speak of is true because DHT is responsible for body hair growth.

Young balders will have considerable body/facial hair because DHT promotes those two things.

As for full-headed 40 year old with little body hair, they:

1. Don't have that much DHT

2. Do not have the necessary genes to go bald. 'Nuff said.

The dude (Ernie) whom this thread is about, believes if you have a lot of body hair and you're bald, the body follicles are stealing the nutrients away from the scalp follicles which is causing the baldness.

The fact there are balding individuals with little body hair (some Asians) and full-headed men with lots of body hair (some Middle-Easterns) shows the theory to be bs.
