What if someone whos not loosing hair uses propecia/rogaine?

If someone who is not loosing any hair begins to use propecia and rogaine what will happen? How will their hair be affected and what will happen if they stop using the two?

not sure about rogaine as yet..but if you're not losing hair and you take propecia then it'll just act as a prostrate drug and nothing else. maybe you'll face sides due to DHT reduction but thats about it. No shedding if thats what you're worried about as DHT wont be the culprit and reducing it wont cause a shift from telogen to anagen.

as for rogaine, i've heard different stuff..some said it'll boost the growth somewhat, while others said since it works differently the propecia that it 'might' give you a shed. again..not sure here, maybe somebody else here can shed light on this subject.

1- why would they use ?
2- nothing wil happen, probably few sheds
3- it would be extremely diffucult to apply minoxidil into a thick density scalpe and through the hair
4- No one with 0 hairloss will even know anything about these products

I think hes asking if it will work for preventative measures. If it works as a preventative for someone to prevent possible hairloss that might be coming down the line, I am not sure about that

I guess the question is that if you started using minoxidil or something because you were under a lot of stress or something and lost some hair or went through a bad shed somehow would it have a negative effect if you were not actually experiencing male pattern baldness?

And if this negative effect continued and led to more thinning would it futher appear that you were experiencing male pattern baldness when in fact you never had it in the first place, further exacerbating the problem.

i'd be curious about this too.
i still don't know if i had/have Telogen Effluvium or male pattern baldness or a combo platter, but i am trying xandrox 5%...it doesn't seem to be making anything worse, so maybe it is helping, but i would not want to create or exaserbate a problem if it is just Telogen Effluvium. any informed thoughts?

Justlooking was pretty spot on. If someone thinks they're loosing their hair for whatever reason, when in reality they are not. Then they jump the gun and start treatment with propecia/rogaine immediately. Surely this must affect the hair in some way?

I believe that Rogaine especially, being a hypertrichotic agent will probably give an offset of growth even in a non balding scalp. Thicker hairs and more anagen, without of course very noticeable results-as results are a product of comparison with the baseline. A shed after discontinuing would be possible but eventually back to baseline.

Propecia.. hm. I guess no effect while on it as dht was not the problem, but the period of readjustment after discontinuing it, could cause some problems. (Just speculation here).
