Wouldn't it really suck? Not being able to went or discuss hairloss anonoumously? Don't you think you would've been more frustrated and depressed mentally? We'd be left with word of mouth and the word of these cryptic moron doctors.

Thats why I never found out about finasteride until it was too late and why I went to 2 sh*t UK clinics. :thumbdown2:

If this wasn't here, I would just be sad. A sad sad fella. I do feel bad for those who came before us. The treatments were little to none and no forums. Had to suck.

Might be better off. Society may not be as concerned by hairloss just like before the internet. Sometimes too much information is just as bad as not enough. Just my thoughts.

I bet a lot less people on finasteride would be having "side effects" since there would be no where to read about them first, thus no paranoia.

The side effects were listed on the note that came with my Proscar package. On the other hand I might not even have heard of Proscar or Propecia if it wasn't for the internet, at least I probably wouldn't have had any faith in them.

I'm not talking about the side effects listed on the package. I'm talking about the crazy ones that you can often find on an internet forum, or ones that may be listed on the package, but cannot possibly manifest after one pill, like people often complain about here. Example being the guy that took less than one milligram over the course of a week and thought he had gyno.

People come to these forums and read about side effects, decide to start Propecia, and then think they are experiencing every possible side effect imaginable, when most of the time it is probably all in their head.

Then you have the Propecia bashers and fear mongerers all over these forums that certainly don't help matters.

Do you mean that side effects in general can't manifest after one pill, or that some specific side effects can't show up that early. Because my gyno (which might be just paranoia, I admit) took many months to show up, but sexual side effects were rather noticeable for me less than 24 hours after my first pill.

I was specifically referring to gyno, which was why that statement was followed by the example that I gave.

I think you understand the point of my post.

I never would of known about Finasteride if it wasnt for the internet. Nor would I be taking it because I would of been much to embaressed or proud to ask a doctor for a prescription, even if I did know about it. :(

Same.. I'm not the type to go to the doctor and ask for a perscription for something like this, so if it wasnt for the internet I would have never bought finasteride, or minoxidil... or even known about them..

Then again, the frustration from the internet might have caused half my balding ! ;)

I was really scared to try out finasteride after reading the horror stories, but I was so frustrated with my situation that I just went ahead and gave it a shot anyways. I got less ejaculate volume, and that's the only side I have noticed so far (after 9 months)... Ok that sort of sucks, but... if you look at my hair now, it is practically unreal. I was at a family get together a couple weeks ago and many of them hadn't seen me in a year. I got openly asked by four family members if I was wearing a piece.... I of course smiled and showed them I was infact not. I don't even put toppik in my hair anymore, it looks THAT good.

finasteride is far from a miracle drug, my results have been far less spectacular, but ive basically held my ground for 4 years (lost slightly) so im happy with that.

I agree with this.

If it wasnt for the internet, I would most definitely be bald by now or waaay beyond the point of treatment. It was only through reading forums like this one and seeing the first hand testimony of the success people can have that I gave it a shot. Previously, I had thought rogaine was next to no use and had no idea finasteride existed.
