What Is The Chance To Maintain On finasteride With Aggressive Genes

I recently started finasteride a couple weeks ago. At first it gave me peace of mind to know that I am treating my hair loss, and I have seen that study that shows finasteride to maintain for 90% of men. The thing I am not sure on is that if you start balding young , with very aggressive genes destined to be nw7 is there any good outlook?

I want to beleive finasteride will maintain for years. I am norwood2 with diffuse thinning

Dude, there's no way to predict the outcome. It's good that you're doing something about your hair loss. You'll just have to take pics every few months to chart your progress. At the 1y or 2y mark, if you really want to give the drug some time, you will know if it's working for you or not. If not, then there are some other options.

If agressive, skip fina and go to duta, much higher probability of success. I had agressive hairloss at young age, fina didnt help much but duta is showing good regrowth, its working with only positive side effects.

The problem with that study is that we don't know how old the people who participated are. Might as well be a majority of 30+ men with receding hair lines. A lot of men have receding hair lines past 30, but few of those end up bald. We basically know DHT is not the problem, sensitivity is and the hair gets more sensitive with time it seems.
Balding in your 20's is the worst kind of hair loss in most cases, it's more aggressive and it affects your life in so many ways.

Just keep taking finasteride if you don't get sides and you'll see if it works or not. You can't really do anything else if you want to keep your hair. You will most likely slow it down and buy a couple of years.

Yea I know that study doesn't really seem consistent with most people's results around here . Maybe I'm being greedy but I wanted to buy more then a couple of years ... I'm not even 20 yet

I'm 19 but I really doubt still growing. Just started finasteride a couple weeks back because my hair has thinned alot
hope it works for u man u should get blood test done my advice is stop immediately when start getting sides specially if they start at a short notice of taking the drug cuz chances of recovery are much higher than ppl take the drug with sides and then start complaining about the drug it's simple really hot sides stop

Yea I will stop if I get them but don't freak me out about them before they start ! It sucks having to risk my health but hair is really important to me and without it my mental health would be destroyed

I agree. Some are going to say finasteride is perfect for saving your hair, but those guys cope just as hard as those who say "bald doesn't matter".
What I mean with a couple of years is that your hair will be fine during those years, but might continue to recede slowly later on. You won't end up bald in a long time if finasteride works for you.Try not to think about the hair, take some time off and if it gets worse you'll deal with it then. There is no point worrying right now.

the result of the 10 year study is clear ,the perfect candidate for fina is over 30 .
The Norwood 2 in the study who were in the twenty didnt show good result . There 45 % of them who whent below baseline . Just search for decadetwo post on hairlosshelp about this topic .

I remember you. Back in February of last year we were discussing the possibility of getting on finasteride. I'm 18 now and I've been on it since last May. I've pretty much maintained if not grown back a little bit of my hair. Good luck and God bless you man.

Yea I remember you to , congrats man. I finally jumped on it after a year of just rogaine /nizoral. I made it the first 2 weeks with no sides but now I'm having some ED. I'm hoping that gets better because if I have to stop taking finasteride I don't think there's any hope for my hair.

Such a bad situation
