I'm a diffuse thinner and as my hair thins I'm realizing just how greasy this stuff really is. Not my hair but my scalp, which is showing more and more, is shiny and greasy. Never fully dries. I've been using Lee's 5% with no PPG. I had read it was the PPG that made it greasy but I don't know if I see a difference. Maybe slight. Does anyone have any other suggestions, aside from the foam? Thanks.

Rogain Foam
Dr Lees item #500

I've never tried the foam - but Lee's #500 rocks.

okay, I'll try his #500, though I think the PPG irritates me. we'll see. But why did I read that it was the PPG that made it greasy, and others recommending no PPG? anyway, thanks guys.

What about Remox/Promox? I heard they're even faster-drying and less greasy then dr. lees.

In the UK - 5% Minoxidil with 0.05% Medroxyprogesterone from Belgravia Clinic. However, you have to sign up to their programme which is very expensive.

Why not just use the foam? It's a lot better than liquid.

In my case, because it still left my hair looking like there's something in it for a long while after i put it on. You could more easily see that I was thinning than when my hair was just dry, without any stuff in it. IMO Dr Lee's liquid looks better than Rogaine Foam, which looks better than liquid Rogaine.

I'm a diffuse thinner so foam won't work. anyway, I've gotten Dr Lee's #500 and it's MUCH better, in terms of it's greasiness. it actually DRIES, and I think faster than the 10 min. the no PPG minoxidil actually doesn't dry. I mean never, it's always greasy no matter how long you wait. though I'm feeling some tingling and itchiness on my scalp through the day. also, I noticed an increase in hairs in the shower. I'll keep at it and see if this changes. has anyone ever heard of someone shedding from CHANGING types of minoxidil?

okay, so I've definitely had more hairloss since switching. has anyone else had this? can the ppg cause hairloss? is there a difference in the absorption causing hairloss? I don't want another shed right now so I'd like to figure out what it is. has anyone else gone from NO ppg to ppg?

Well it's the amount of PPG that counts (little PPG = not viscous, without PPG = very viscous as the PPG is replaced with glycerin). I got irritation from Krikland minoxidil (same as brand Rogaine) but didn't from Dr Lee's with PPG! Hope that helps

philly, what kind of irritation did you get from kirkland? after changing to #500 I'm getting lots of itching, tingling, and now some burning and a red spot that is very inflamed. also getting somewhat of a shed.

Lee's #500 (with PPG) is hard to beat imho.

Spectral DNC is non greasy, dries fast but slightly stickier than Lee #500. I use both but prefer #500 when in a hurry.
