ok I know this is a crappy picture and doesn't look so bad, but my hair is patchy around the side as you can see from the pic, it looks worse in bright light and on a magnified mirror. Looking at the right side side of my head it runs maybe 2-3 inches like below the corner of my head, not ontop. It doesn't appear to be the parting, and it isnt like this on the left side of my head Is this some kinda male pattern baldness? Looking close up with a mirror, the hair is definitely thin in this area, like a bald patch. My hair is thinning a bit on the top at the back where youd expect male pattern baldness to start, but my hair is quite long and thick so its not noticable unless someone is staring down at it, or with a magnified mirror.

anyone have a clue as to what it is? any help appreciated!

From that pic it looks like it might have been some sort of stress related thinning. However, if you say you're thinning in other areas on top a little bit, then you might have male pattern baldness (which is not caused by stress, but genetics).

Is your dad bald or thin on top? Grandfathers?

Hair loss or baldness occur when there is the increase in the level of dihydrotestosterone hormone. It causes hair lose. I can suggest one generic pills for curing baldness is propecia.

it could be DUPA? Stress related loss doesn't leave bald patches i believe. You will need to visit your doctor for a more accurate diagnosis. Could be a thyroid issue too.
