I don't know what it is with all the spam lately, but it's been problematic.

Also, we need new Moderators. What ever happened to Cassin the Super Moderator? They currently haven't been active for over two years now, before I even joined this site.

Sorry guys. We have just one moderator right now. Cassin retired and is on a yacht in the south pacific with naked ladies.

QuantumCat and ChrisW were the last moderators to volunteer, but we typically see new moderators fade away after about 6 months. Its a constant struggle to find someone who will stick around.

Will contact the handful of you who offered above. Anyone else interested in participating? I have long wished our forum could have a good 5 to 10 moderators that handled literally everything. Including finding new moderators when necessary. The moderator handling everything right now has a lot of other roles on the site and gets pulled away by them often.

Hi Admin, I can chip in if necessary. I am not always on so consider someone more active above, but if you would like a network of moderators as you suggested, I can definitely be one of them long term.

Also a better registering system so spammers can't join may be necessary like captcha as someone suggested. Also a delay between each post for newbies.

^Good ideas. Also new members maybe shouldn't be allowed to create a new thread until they've reached at least 10 posts or something like that. Will help stop spammers as well as newbies who come on here only to start pointless threads like "Help am I going bald?".

Have a ton of safeguards in place to stop spam, including an internet-wide database of spam IP's that triggers (see home page of forum - scroll to bottom - spam o matic statistics).

So what we are seeing is literally a trickle from the avalanche that hits this forum daily.


They're still getting through. I'll figure it out and block them eventually here..
