Here are some pics I just took about an hour after showering. I have the same rattiness as the OP. When I first started finasteride my hair was extremely thick except for the crown, now it seems everything has thinned out together

I don't know man. It doesn't look different to me.
It 100% is. Longer hair covers a lot. When it’s wet I can see a huge difference.

What’s up guys. I encountered a very similar experience on finasteride. I started in January of 2017, and it worked wonders from the onset. My hair felt healthier, but I also had some sides (watery semen, ball-ache, not the firmest boners). The sides started going away in March, but then my hair literally went lifeless in the matter of a day. My scalp and T-Zone were oily as sh*t, I was waking up with morning wood and jizzing within seconds during sex/jerking it. I was shedding both eyebrows and scalp hair. I tried to keep on with it, but gave up in December of 2017 when the situation never changed. I played around with doses towards the end of the year, but I was shedding hundreds of hairs a day with an irritated scalp regardless so don’t think it made a difference. Came off of it and started rogaine last January, and my hair is definitely eons better than when I was on finasteride. Just went through another shedding phase recently, so worried that the nizoral in combination with the rogaine isn’t enough to halt it. I have heard around the forums periodic sheds are something users experience on rogaine, and the shedding had slowed a bit the past couple days so hoping for the best.

Also, considering how much you’re shedding now, the rogaine won’t make your hair loss worse if you stop finasteride. My hair looked darker and healthier within months of making the switch, and I would advise you to do the same.

If you started minoxidil in january, you are probably going to through a shed right now.
I used minoxidil in june 2018 and stopped using it in at the end of january. Befire i started using minoxidil, i had quite a full head of hair. I had signs of hairloss but it was no biggie. During those 6-7 months, i shedded my hair continuiously. No signs of regain. 300-400 hairs daily, and it never stopped. I went from having a full head of hair, to wearing a beanie everyday. You can now clearly see my scalp when you look at my head. I probably lost 50% of all the hair i ever had.
I hear people say they shed for 3-4 weeks or 2 months. but 7 months of shedding, without any signs of regrowth? f*** that, so i stopped.

So do you think it will get back to your original thickness at some point or do you think this is the hair finastride has given you? I cant see mine improving it just feels its going to c9ntinue to be wispy.
Also the greasy oily calp and increased libido with a shed came back when i ordered a new batch of finasteride, seemed my body reacted differently to a different brand luckily i went to my pharmacy today and and he gave me the original brand i started with.
Im not sure if this ia true but i feel when i have a decreased libido, ball ache, and hard to ejaculate its when the fina is working best.
Also going to try get oral minoxidl from my gp

It still does look good, and could probably look entirely full using product. I have the hair of a woman who is experiencing severe hair loss due to the menopause :(

Are you trying to tell me finasteride made you lose hair, and stopping it made you regrow hair?
I can't say for sure now. I made a hugeeeee mistake a month ago and put minoxidil on my face. I had done this before last year and my beard thickened nicely. Anyway, after stopping finasteride in early January and shaving my head, by the end of February when my hair grew back I had pretty much zero shedding. The regrowth was improving. After 3 days of minoxidil on my FACE my head started to shed lol whoops! Systemic...I quit after 5. I'm now 3 months off finasteride and 3.5 weeks no minoxidil in my system. The shed has slowed, my hair is medium length and looks okay considering everything I put those follicles though. I personally feel that sexual sides are lingering. It's not a huge deal though.

@Harv there's a thread going where a user had a massive temporal shed. He was using finasteride but switch to dutasteride. His temples are growing back nicely. Did you see? However the rest of his hair didn't look like a rats nest bro. My hair also ratted out, it's still much thinner but i didn't recede even a cm. I think you should play out finasteride. you've only been on it two months why are you even considering oral min. You already have sexual sides.
I know i've been preaching that finasteride fucked my hair but unfortunately i can't say that 100% any longer as I was also using minoxidil on my face at the time as finasteride and quit the stuff about 3 weeks to a month before my shed started. It's possible this contributed as i'm certain now that putting min on MY face affects MY hair. However i need to remember I increased the dose of finasteride 6 DAYS before my shed started lol and experienced higher libido etc....

Cut your hair shorter and play out the finasteride. Don't start oral min. Good luck mate

Cheers for the advice.
My hair is getting worse on fina, i dont think its just a shed as it keeps getting thinner and cant see the regrowth - (its in a really bad state now) Also have that pulling urge to pull out weak hairs which feels like a symptomym of mbp. My sides are ok in dont have oily scalp or hot flushes anymore butmy libido went back up (maybe back to normal).
Anyways iam switching to dutasteride, just ordered a 3month batch.
Oral just seems much more effective than topical according to people on here, but i will start with topical aswell

You are heading down a very slippery slope my friend. You've been on finasteride for two months, you can't expect results if it is working. Did you check out that post I was talking about by user Pnl? What happens if dutasteride doesn't work after 2 months? which it probably won't! Will you quit and try something new in two more months? Starting dutasteride will most likely cause a shed. Very slippery slope dude. Ride out finasteride or quit it. Try finasteride for a year and if really did cause a bad reaction it would be a mistake to start dutasteride. There's no logic in what you're doing. Many of us have been through these sheds and for much longer. man up dawg. I understand why you're adding topical minoxidil but then you won't know what's working. You still have a lot of hair so time is on your side. Be smart.

I dont mind a shed if i know theres regrowth with duta and at the moment my hair is so bad anyways.
I know fina tskes a while for results and 2.5months isnt long but fina isnt helping me having the urge to pull out hairs on my left temple hairline. That cant be a good sign if i have an itch in that area and i keep pulling my hairs out whilst im on fina. It dosent feel like a shed and it just dosent feel like it strong enough in relieveing that itchy feeling and urge to pluck out hairs on a thinning area.
Wont duta and minoxidl combined give optimal results?
Will check out pnl

Do you have an idea how much of your hair in the front is damaged? Im currently on dutasteride and im experiencing the most insane shed i could possibly imagine. I didnt even know it was physically possible to lose that much hair everyday. But it makes sense. I was on steroids for a long time, and while my hair was full the entire time, it must have damaged my hair all over my head. The damage in the front is actually visible because the hair there is all frizzy and brittle, compared to my otherwise straight and healthy hair.

What im trying to say is that, if you have alot of damaged hair (yet a full head of hair), you are going to lose a sh*t ton of hair when you jump on any effective regimen. All these damaged hairs are going to fall out all at once. Because of the sheer amount of these damaged hairs, you'd think you have decent amount of hair. But once you jump on any regimen, you realize just how many of them are actually fucked.

I have been growing my hair for the past 3 years and i rarely have had many trims and my hair before fina was very damaged, dry and full of split ends. That makes sense that alot of hair will shed mainly the damaged ones which have been on my head for a while but my issue is before fina i had two main symptoms of mbp - burning sensation on the crown with slight thinning there and a thinning itchy left temple which gave me the urge to pull out some of the hairs.
When i took fina it was a huge shock to my system and all my hair went to a telogen effluvium state i.e looking like a rats nest brittle and frizzy. What i dont understand is for the period ive been on finaon some days i get that mbp symptom where my crown is burning and hairloss in that area and on other days like currently i get that other mbp symptom of left temple hair pulling - coincidentally this happens when my libido feels higher and iget stronger erections, it never both happens together which leads me to believe that the fina isnt stablising my hairloss(maybe the other 30% of dht which fina dosent block is still effectinf those areas, unless this is normal which other people go through?? Shouldnt my scalp feel stable without these symptoms if fina was working effectively which somedays i have felt mainly when my libido was very low?
Mbp usually starts on the left temple and makes it way round, thats what one trichologist told me which seems to make sense as my right temple hair dosent itch and seems to be not loosing that much hair.

Couldn’t agree more with this. I sometimes think I panicked and aborted finasteride too early. My shed was Insane too and I too appeared to have a full head of hair, however there was definite miniaturised hairs everywhere - sure enough these weaker hairs shed, along with a sh*t ton of terminals, but they were probably already taking an early hit from DHT but still thick - 40-50% decrease in density, enough to make me quit.
The front is pretty sh*t, I’m not receeding but it’s thin.
finasteride could potentially be on the cards for me at the end of the year. We shall see.

Its the reason why i quit minoxidil. I had a full head of hair when i was on steroids, but noticed some "slight" thinning. I jumped on minoxidil, and lost 50% of the hair i had on my head. I shed like 300-400 hairs everyday. I quit after 3 months because i couldnt bear it. I stopped, and my hair stopped falling out completely.
Now i jumped on dutasteride and a couple other things, and im shedding hair again, but now even worse.
The fact that its happening again shows me that its a good thing and that unfortunately, i have to go through it. Which is why im gonna stick to it this time.
